Hi fellow gamers, Have recently softmodded my original xbox and have ftp'd most of my extracted xbox iso's to F/Games folder. Some games load fine, but others for eg. Halo, GTA San Andrea etc loads black screen. Have cleared the cache in E drive and also X, Y and Z drives. Was suggested by a friend to partition my F drive in 64kb clusters as it's 1 tb, however noticed when doing so resulted in my unable to load xbmc from E/Apps folder from unleash x dashboard. Have used dvd2xbox but dont want to exhaust my dvd drive, also most of the iso's have been downloaded as I have owned the games at some point in the past. Are there compatability issues with some xbox games not running off internal hdd? Any advice would be appreciated. Regards,
There are a handful of games that wont run; but most have hdd fixes available. Halo shouldn't have any issues though. Also 64k clusters on the F shouldn't effect the E drive. Sounds like something else is going on with the system. Have you tried re-flashing tsop and taking the softmod off?
Thank you for your reply. Was suggested by a friend to use the c-box tool to patch the games default.xbe file, patched call of duty 2 for eg. and still doesnt load via xbmc. The system isnt modchipped, not sure if I am able to flash only a softmodded xbox? what hdd fixes do you recommend. Dashboard the xbox is loading from is unleash x, games however loading from xbmc.
Try loading games from UnleashX. When you rip a game through DVD2XBOX or UnleashX, XBEs are patched. Usually though it's not required.
I've played GTASA PAL from hdd on my old xbox. Loaded it through XBMC. Worked fine. Used qwix to extract iso and filezilla to ftp it over to the xbox. No patching or anything iirc.
Thank you to those who provided some advice, loading from either xbmc or unleaash x didnt help, nor did patching the xbe etc. Investigation indicates that the iso/extracted folder was a bad image and have recently downloaded another iso, extracted and works fine.
Del your E:CACHE just the files in the folder Not the folder.. It will fix the black/blank screen problem.
