I recently recieved a few beta's, one that was locked. This is a important build to me, but unfortunetaly, most things are locked. There are no custom ELFS, except for 2 files one .cue (74 bytes) and one .ISO (0 bytes) with the name being the date of the build, and a .MAP. However, i don't know how to use it or do anything. I tried removing the .MAP from the ISO to see if it would do anything but nothing happened. Could someone help me? I can't share the .ISO due to a agreement, but could anyone help me the basics with these .MAP files? I have seen them in other builds i had, which weren't locked and had debug menu's, so..

What are you trying to do? What do you mean by "locked"?
    What platform is this about?

It's PlayStation 2, and a racing game. The game has bugged events/ranks with no events/locked events/ranks. After i win a race, every event (that is not locked) is completed. But the events that were locked before are still locked and i cannot acess them. I also cannot acess the options/online/split screen menu on the main menu. You also cannot select all the cars, just a few, and you don't unlock new cars. I want to acess a debug menu/unlock the build via this file, as it is my only hope really.

likely the game was intentionally crippled for reviewers, or may simply just be really early in development and not have proper menu functionality-- as such, may not possess a debug menu or the like.
Without any more information- at least the name of the game for people to see what's on the retail build, you're likely on your own here if there's nothing you can show...

The game really isn´t important. I had a few NFS builds with a .MAP aswell. I just want to know, how will a game use .MAP´s and what are .MAP´s?

I'm sure the name of the game is important because I cant imagine a bunch of games being made the same exact way. Knowing which game can help people help you.

They're just files. Unless you're talking about a specific game engine, the .MAP files could be anything.
If you see no files on the disc, then the files are likely stored outside of the disc's ISO9660 filesystem and in the raw sectors. The game would have been made to use pre-computed LBAs to retrieve those files, which is a pretty normal practice to achieve performance.

The only real way to know, is to disassemble the game and to find out how it works.

@TheGTAddict You're acting like what you're in possession of is equivalent of the Ark of the Covenant, and you don't want folks to know what you have...yet you were asking for assistance. All we wanted to do was try and help you with accessing your files. Helping others is a big part of what makes these forums great. No one can help you if you don't at least tell us the name of the game.

Yeah, but i thought it wasn't important because the .MAP isn't engine or game related at all. I just wanted to know what these really are and if these could unlock stuff. I know this for a fact because i own some NFS proto's with .MAP's aswell. Clearly no-one understood these .MAP files since people are thinking it is game related/engine related, but whatever it was Burnout Revenge. I never said the name because it is ''top-secret'' but because i just dind't want to piss off the person that gave me the build (files, no discs).
