I received my controller today from eBay, I did get it used but nothing was mentioned about it's 'problem'. It appears the analogue sticks sensors are very weak or incorrect, it always selects DOWN and the right stick does the same thing. After shaking the controller a bit I managed to get it to stop. I'm not sure if this can be fixed easily or not. I played a few games to test it and it started to work a little better. I'm not sure if I should try and get another one (if the seller refunds me) or if it's even worth sending back. I got it for $15.80 in total as I won the auction at 99c. I believe I have this version: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Cordless-Controller-PlayStation-2/dp/B00006B9CK
Sounds like the sticks are broken, Could solder in replacements... assuming they are the same as some existing controller with available parts.
That's not the Logitech Cordless Action; that is its predescessor, the Logitech Cordless Controller. I would love to find another one, but haven't seen another one on eBay UK since I found my current one; I too bought one from eBay some time back and when I got it, games acted as if I had depressed the R1 button, all the time. I had to disassemble it, remove the R1/R2 button membrane and clean it as well as the contacts on the PCB. After that it worked perfectly. As for your issue, perhaps it's somthing similar? I suspect that it's actually to do with the directional pad and its membrane/contact with the PCB. If you take it apart and clean the membrane and the contacts on the PCB, you may resolve it.
It's the right stick that has the problem, after moving it in a circle really fast the problem goes away. It might be pretty dirty inside it. Are they easy to clean? Or will all the buttons just fall out like the Dual Shock 2?
Of course the buttons will fall out if you hold the top portion of the controller the way that you would if it were reassembled, but what may surprise you is the fact that the the shape buttons are not an individual button that contacts the membrane; all of them are fused together on the same bit of rubber since the buttons actually are part of the membrane itself. It only becomes fiddly when you try to remove the analog sticks from the little plastic hooks that hold them into place, which you need to do if you want to remove the PCB from the controller body. They are rather hard to unhook, and you have to very gently slide them out.
So buttons are together? Not little pieces like the original Dual Shock 2? I've taken apart a Dual Shock 2 twice and buttons just fly everywhere. If they're easy to put back in it's not a problem. Usually putting something back is hardest part.
Yes, they aren't little plastic pieces like the original controller but are just projections on the rubber membrane. So the button that you are pressing on the outside goes much deeper than you would expect, lol. So it is much easier to put back into pleace.
I opened the controller up, and the problem still happens.. I got most of the money refunded how ever.. I'm not sure if it's a dirt problem though, the controller was quite clean inside. Anyway I can calibrate them?
