im sure that at least someone hear must be in the same boat as me..

you work in the central london area, and you fancy playing the latest import game after work, where on earth do you go?

Computer Exchange (CeX) is awful these days, since sony, microsoft and nintendo got onto them and told them not to sell new imports.

I only know one other shop in the area, and they usualy have to order imports in for you, and when they do they change you £50!

Anyone know if any other places exist?

There used to be one up carnaby (sp?) street but that closed ages ago. Was a well nice little place.

Dunno of any others at all... Best bet is ebay.

Sahem Avanced Console Entertinmant shut, i was a memeber and bought my Core Grafx II off them when I was 12, I dunno why they closed.

I always remember the awome competetions they man in Mean Machines to win all of Duo/MD + MCD/SFC/AES + more or an SF2 Cab.

I enetered both, only got a runners up prize of an embossed SF2 poster for my troubles.

I think this is a universal problem... outside of Asia anyway. You'll never find a good import shop, with prices as good as online... they've just got too much overhead to keep it competitive.

If you don't mind paying the extra dough you may find something, but it seems to be more than just a few sheckles.

Even here, shops charge at least 20% above auction prices (if not more)

    Buggar all in London now

CEX has gotten really bad and the few items they have are SKY HIGH

Trade in prices aren`t great either.

I popped in to the store of Oxford Street the other day and it was so empty...where as a year or three ago loads of stuff.....quite expensive but available................now I won`t bother going back again for quite some time...unless I happen to be walking passed it.

There was a shop in Notting Hill that again used to be really good at odd stuff....not strictly an import shop....but a trade shop.....and from time to time they had some really good stuff......picked up a mint boxed Sega Multi-Mega for about £40.....but then they had something happen I presume that said they wouldn`t take electrical items.......presume someone bought something and got a shock from it. So again another that has gone down hill.

The only one really is Raven Games in Beckenham.........just outside London. They always have great stuff.....but for that reason their prices aren`t cheap. But if someone wants something enough...they`ll pay for it.

With the likes of Lik Sang and Golden Shop etc probably not worth a lot of people importing stuff any more.............

Is there anything of a retro store in London? Doesnt have to be import, just some store that sells old/used games/systems...

CeX and Game Focus(Goodge Street) are the only places i know...

Cex still has the same DreamEye i sold them a while ago, and a saturn mouse... plus 60 or so copys of marvel vs capcom.

Game Focus on the other hand is great for retro.. they don't order stuff in, but usualy get some good stuff in via trade. DC Broadband adapters, a good selection of sega games, they have it all! ...and they even have a SvC Chaos machine downstairs for the public to play on!

   )
