As someone who doesn't deal in pirated games I don't have any burned discs around. However I may be purchasing a few used 360s in the near future and I want to ensure that they are not modded.

    Hence the problem.

The easiest way to test if a system is modded is to attempt to boot a copied game on it. I suppose I could google for a pirated copy of Halo 3 or something but 1) I'm not a fan of piracy and 2) I think it would be useful to have something that we could sticky so that any user who wanted to verify that they weren't getting stuck with an unwanted iXtreme system could easily download, burn and test.

That led me to think of this possible solution.

A demo disc rip. Now granted, most 360 demos are propogated via Xbox Live, so there aren't a whole lot of demo discs out there, but there are still a few notable ones.

Offhand I can think of the Walmart Apprentice demo disc (US), the Turok demo disc, the WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 demo disc (UK), the Beatles Rock Band demo disc and the DJ Hero demo disc. I'm sure there are possibly a few others as well.

Since these demo discs were given out for free, I don't think there would be any issue with sharing images of one of the discs. At the same time it would greatly benefit the community as a whole as there are both shady sellers (who sell modded systems as stock) and ignorant sellers (such as stores that buy/sell systems and don't know how to test if they are modded or not).

Demo discs that would be off-limits for sharing would include:
    1) The original Kiosk disc - it is blacklisted and won't boot on any current stock or iXtreme modded system
    2) Any OXM demo disc - these are sold with the magazine, rather than given away for free so it could be considered a gray area, best avoided

The ideal demo disc would be one that is originally region free, this way it could be used by users worldwide, rather than limited to just a single region. If we can't find a region free demo, then getting one from each major region (NSTC-J, NTSC-U/C, PAL) would be second best.

Does anyone out there have such a disc that they can rip and share? Or know of a link to an existing one?

    Remember:
    1) NO full version games/piracy/warez
    2) NO kiosk disc
    3) NO OXM demo discs
    4) NO edited discs

The goal is to have a LEGAL, shareable disc image that only boots on iXtreme mods in order to provide a quick/easy way to verify if a system is stock or not.

Yeah, any demo ripped from Xbox Live won't work for this as they will all be in Live containers and will run from any media on any stock Xbox 360.

Basically, if it's in a Content folder, then it's from Live and will work on any system making it useless for identifying a modded box.

What is needed for this to work is a standalone demo disc that is mastered just like a standard game rather than a Live demo.

Someone please delete this in case it's frowned upon to post warez release names, but I believe The_Beatles_Rock_Band_Best_Buy_Exclusive_Demo_READNFO_USA_RF-XBOX360-RRoD (there's actually no space between READ and NFO, the forum inserts that for some reason) might be what you're looking for. I don't think Assembler would want me to upload it though...

Also I think this disc might not be legal everywhere, for example I believe there are countries where it's illegal to download anything from 'obviously illegal sources'... again no idea if this applies to a simple demo disc or not.

Hope this helps, if not, please delete.

EDIT: Seeing as this post didn't get deleted yet I suppose it's legal enough. The game seems to be what they call 'wave3', which requires iXtreme v1.51 or later to run, meaning this disc would probably not work on all fw-modded drives.
Then again maybe one could patch a lower wave video partition in there, but this would definitely be not stealth and therefore detectable by the xbox, possibly resulting in a ban when connecting to live.
So I'll keep looking, but maybe someone else knows a disc that works on lower firmware versions too.
I do believe wave3 discs boot on certain older firmwares too though, due to them not having checks for the video partition at all. Meh, maybe someone who knows more about that could clear it up.

Here's the abgx log of the disc:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    \\//\\//\\//\\// _ |_ _ \ \/ /_ _ _ \\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\

The goal is to have a disc that can easily verify a system's status. Basically, if the system boots the disc you know it's modded.

EVERY version of iXtreme is detectable by Xbox Live and will eventually be banned. It's not a matter of if, but when. Compounding that is the fact that most of the modded systems being sold on CL, eBay and other trading sites are already banned.

In short, it doesn't matter if the disc is "stealth" or not. The assumption is that any system that boots whichever demo is finally chosen is either already banned or soon will be.

The whole point of finding such a demo ISO is to make it easy for people to avoid getting stuck with modded systems unknowingly. It would suck to pay for a system thinking it is stock and having the seller pull a fast one and give you a modded one instead.

The Beatles disc seems like a good start, but it would be awesome if there is another demo that is more compatible with the various iXtreme firmwares. Doubly so if it is a demo that can be burned to a cheap single layer DVD+/-R instead of a DL disc.
