That's not D-terminal, its a Male 8 pin DIN to 9 pin D-sub (DE-9). Never seen a cable like that myself, to be honest.

    oops my bad - that's what I'm after 9 pin D-sub.

diddydon, let me know what's up when you find out if you can, I really appreciate it. I think the scart cable must be compatible with Master System /the first Megadrive model.

You could make your own SCART to D-sub 9pin adapter and that might be what you have to do really. Later on for my RGB monitor I'll probably make a SCART to VGA/HD15 adapter so I can use a HD15 to BNC cable for RGB. But making a SCART to whatever you need and buying SCART cables is probably the most clean way to go. Alternatively you could try to hunt down a MegaDrive style DIN plug and make your own MD to DSub9 adapter. Sometimes you can find 3rd party RF adapters and things that are good for sacrificing for the plug.

thanks for that. thing is I don't want to spend 20 dollars and up on a pesky scart lead, though I may have to in the end.
    I have one of these:

if I where to pick up a gen 1 megadrive a/v cable (with 8 pin din on the side that goes into the megadrive - in my case, the supergun) - could I plug it into that adaptor and get rgb? cos this supergun only does rgb.

I would find a DIN plug (if you have a connector that converts an old keyboard to a new PS\2 one, cut it open and solder the corresponding pins to a SCART cable for RGB.

...If the MD does RGB. I can't remember.

MegaDrive does RGB. That SCART adapter won't help you. It doesn't let RGB go anywhere, that just adapts the connector from SCART to standard RCA and S-Video jacks. You really need to buy a RGB SCART cable and then plug that into your SCART socket or if you don't have one like me, buy a fully wired SCART switcher and hack the end off it to connect it to your RGB monitor. That way you plug in the SCART cable into your switcher and the switcher has had its end hacked and wired up to your RGB interface.

The cable you are looking for is an uncommon custom thing. Basically buy a 8 Pin DIN and bend the pins to match the non-standard SEGA A/V port style, solder wires and run the other end to whatever other connector. I find its easier and makes more sense to just buy a SCART cable and hack up a setup to plug in SCART cables. The end result is much nicer.

thanks dude, but I have no clue how or what to hack - I think I'm going to end up having to buya scart lead compatible with neo geo and megadrive/master system.. if I could hack a lead and it would be more cost effective I definetly would.
