looking for a DC modifier in NE England...

    hi,
    just joined the fourm...
    After buying up some JP DC games and a clear blue shell last week i'm wanting to pimp up and modify my PAL DC to play them.
    I'd like a VGA mod too.
    Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of someone in the north of england who can do this for me?
    Id also like to play Einhander on my PAL PS2 rather than the old chipped PS1 i have too.

    As to VGA, not hard if you don't mind opening up your DC and wiring to the connections as the DC can support VGA natively, and RGB and composite.

    As to the North of England (i'm Southern England BTW), one of the moderators on my forum, Evil Nod is northernish, as is also CircuitBird (who is Northern England); if no-one else here offers to help, shoot them a PM, they might be willing to help, worth asking!

    That mod is dangerous and will damage your console. The 12v line should only be connected for around 30 minutes max (as per the data sheet) to unprotect the first blocks of the eeprom NOT left all the time.

    You should have the bios replaced, I sell them and offer fitting for £10 (chip is £2.20)

    Ironically I have just installed a region free BIOS (as burned by the above fellow) into a Dreamcast for my mates mum (no, you dirty buggers I don't have any pics of his mum). Took under an hour to do.

    I couldn't find either of thoses 2 users in the directory, searches on those names also came back user unknown???

    Couldn't he just do the mod, with a switch in between, for it to activate the moment he changes region using the Region Changer Disc?
    I'm just curious :)

    You would keep needing to change regions each time you wanted to play games from another region. Modified bios gets around that.

    But simple answer, is yes you could.

    Sure thing, and I totally agree that a chip with regionfree bios is the best solution. As said, I was just curious :)

    Could changing the bios allow for the development start up swirl to be added? As I'm in the South West of England and fancy a different bios

    Thats whats in the bios I flash by default (if you want stock swirl, its by request)

    the mod works fine if you install the switch but now that the region free BIOS is out i would go for that myself just to reduce the hassle
