Hi everyone. Right now im learning C++ and its going quite well. However I dont have a notebook so all my studying must be done on my desktop. The problem with it is that Im not home as ofton as I would like. For instance, I help my aunt take care of my grandmother, so I usually stay with her on weekends so my aunt can go out to the movies with her boyfriend.

So im looking for a older laptop that can run MS Visual C++ 6.0 and win XP. Im thinking something in a pentium III range with something like 128 megs of ram. I was wondering if anyone here might have a laptop they are looking to sell that would work for what I need. I have been watching ebay but so far havent won any auctions. I would prefer to buy from someone in the US. I also have alot of games and desktop parts (IE: video cards and such) that I would be willing to trade.

Let me know if you have anything like that, it can be broken or damaged or it can be missing parts (HDD, CD, ect..) Any help is much appricated! Thanks!

lol, Im looking for something a little more modern. As stated I would need it to run WinXP and MS visual C++. I think the slowest Im looking for is something in a pentium II. I would really like a PIII though. If anyone has anything like that in ANY condition for sale or trade please let me know. Thanks~

I've got a Dell, Pentium 2 400 Mhz with Win2000 on it, hd is 4G with 128 megs of RAM. The screen is very sharp, though I don't have the CDROM drive just Ethernet card + port replicator.

    Cheers

I may be interested. How much. I was just talking to a old guy who was having a yard sale down my street. He has a PII 266 with 64 megs of ram and said he would take 25 for it. Im looking for something just a hair faster.

Please let me know your price and/or what you are looking for in trades.

Hmm. A buddy of mine wants to sell off his Dell Latitude laptop he has. It is a 1.0ghz P3 I believe, with 256mb RAM, and a 40gig HDD. USB ports are messed up but he has a PCMCIA USB card for it and CDRW/DVDROM combo. I'll check with him if he is still selling it.

Well can you find out what speed it is for me Tachikoma. Then let me know how much you would want for it and how much shipping would be to Ohio in the united states. Zip Code is 43113.

Madhatter: Thats a shame, that was just about perfect. Thanks for looking into it though.

Sabre470: You have any idea on the price for the one you said you have.

    THANKS!

It's pretty heavy, so I would imagine more than it would cost to get a similar spec one from your side of the pond. If you really want, I can but probably not until the weekend.

If you could find time to check its condition and the speed that would be great. Also if you could get me a couple of pics that would help to. Im not sure how much shipping would be so you would have to get a quote.

If its to much work then dont worry about it though. Do you have any idea what you want to get out of it btw?

    Thanks!

It'll be over 2 kilos so you'd be looking at about £40 through Royal Mail. If it's a PII it won't be worth much more in the first place.

I think it's a PII 266 or 333, I need to dig out the power lead for it or see if there is a spare still in work that I can have. It has a TFT screen rather than a DSTN I know that much, it's black and quite nice looking, but yeah it's going to be in the $80+ dollar region to ship to you at least.

I'm not sure how much you are wanting to spend, butI have a Sony Vaio PCG-SR33k that I just finished some repairs on. It's ultra light weight and portable with a celeron 600MHz and 128MB of RAM. Currently running XP SP2.

I'm looking to get about $275 for it.

It just dawned to me that I also have a Fujitsu Lifebook B2130. I'll dig it out, but I know that it needs a fresh OS install and I don't have the necessary drive.

Let me know if you are at all interested in either and I will provide more info.

I just bought a laptop off ebay about a hour ago.

Its a Dell PIII mobile at 700MHz with 256 megs of ram and a 40 gig HDD. I got it for 148 bucks lol. Real good deal.

I might be interested in that life book depending on its specs. Please let me know as I have other people who are looking. I can take care of installing a OS or replaceing things like ram and HDD's.

    Thanks!
