Does anyone know of any cheap gameboy MBC-3 carts that use battery backups? I'm looking to use them as donar boards.

I have a ton of Pokemon 1st and 2nd gen that I'd like to fix but it appears that either the board is toast or the mbc3 chips are bad.

Pokemon red blue gold silver and crystal were the only ones to use it out here. Japanese red used an older mbc. The only non Pokemon to use mbc3 was Keitai Denjū Telefang.

Yellow is easier it uses mbc5.

Yellow is easy, I found out JP red, blue and crystal are different.

I'm actually now searching for an IC socket that I can mount to test mbc3 chips. Most 32 surface mount sockets are 7x9 not 8x8.

Any idea why these mbcs are failing? Seems chip failures are rare in carts except for these and the feram save chips in sonic 3

Dunno- but I found a source for red and blue, now looking for silver and gold as the chips are slightly different, but still MBC-3
