What's with the two cart slots? NES/Fami compatibility?

Brazil has a lot of Famicom/NES models that contain both cartridge slots. Sadly they are like gold dust today.

Unfortunately Im not sure how you would go about getting one from there, unless you or someone you know is visiting South America any time soon.

Yeah, strangely enough I just got in touch with a Brazilian friend, and he said he used to have one like it (Dynavision 3 I think he said).

From what i remember, only the CCE Turbo Game (9000T) had two slots, from all the Famiclones sold in Brazil.

The Handyvision and Dynavision both had 2 slots as well I believe.

I know of no other country that dual slot systems, they didn't need it really.

Maybe the one in the pics is a custom job? It does look very nice. Very nice indeed.

Don't want to disagree with you but i never saw a Dynavision with 2 slots.

All models have Japanese cartridge slots, and used to have a free converter to play american games on it.

The Handyvision on the other hand had American cartridge slot.

I'll check this for you guys as soon as possible.

The company that made the dynaivision made 3 different models, only the 3rd model, the "Dynavision3" had two slots.

    No worries about disagreeing. :)
I like to make sure I'm accurate, so if I do happen to make a mistake I value being shown this for future reference.

But I can assure that the Dynavision 3 had two slots, as taken from a brazilialian website:
Dynavision 3 Padrão: NES (72 pinos) e Famicom (60 pinos)
    Fabricante: Dynacom
    Ano de lançamento: 1991
Fabricou cartuchos próprios para o sistema? : Sim

Do a quick google image search.

I love Famicom gaming and try my best to keep up to date with all the things going on in the Famicom world, both bootleg and official.

Please have a little faith in my Famicom knowledge, I wouldn't state something unless 95% certain. :)

Though the more I look at it, the more intrigued I am by this double slotted model. I haven't seen it before, but it does look aesthetically very nice. Easily one of the nicest looking bootleg systems Ive seen in years.

I still think it might be a home done job, by a collector. Maybe.

    Regardless, I await more info.

Well, here's testimony from a previous owner (from an email):
I guess he never saw the CCE model above.

Yeah, I linked him to Hawanja's website which has pictures of it: http://hawanja.com/dynavision_iii.htm
Same image I guess, you might just about be able to make out a second cart slot.

(If you're reading Hawanja, apparently the company who made them isn't called Dynavision, it's Dynacom ;))

    The latest Dynavision:

PS: The first Dynavision was a Atari clone if i'm not mistaken. The Dynavision 2 was the first Famiclone.

Ahh, so you run the famicom clones site? Well done and good job!
You may not remember, but I emailed you ages about a Famicom/Megadrive hyrbid system. Your website is excellent, and a very valuable resource.

Though I must admit, it is a bit of a madman's quest. ;)
You could work on i for decades and not log everything. Still, goodluck!

I must ask, have you ever seen any images of the "Reggies Entertainment System" ?

It's a South African made Famicom clone, I had one as a kid (I had several Famicom clones actually, due to them breaking so easily), and Ive been desperate to get a photo of one recently.

I warn you though, I may starting very nostalgic at such images, so brace yourself. ;)

only skimmed through the thread but heres something you should consider:

many famiclones that support nes carts have a famicom slot aswell.
most of the time, its just not accessable without opening the hood.

the "mastergames" clones, for example, wich are to be found quite often in germany, always contain a nes and a (hidden) famicom slot that carries a multigame cart.

whats so damn cool about the more recent famiclones is that you can switch them between 50hz and 60hz video refresh rate.works on every 1-chip-famiclone in theory, but the pin that determines the refresh rate isnt always carried to a pad/jumper outside the gloptop, so you'll probably have to crack a few open until you find a suitable one.

i can provide pictures in case somebody is curious.

this 50/60hz switch thingie isnt appealing to ntsc users, of course, but since you cant switch video refresh rate on an original nes and most pal tv sets support 60hz, but no ntsc composite signal, youre somewhat screwed if you want to play ntsc famicom games in a pal region without suffering from slowdowns.
and then, theres this rgb mod using a ppu from arcade pcbs like the playchoice or several vs games, but thats kinda messy and can cause glitches with some games.
