Hi People! I am searching for some games similer to Scorched Earth or Tank Wars or Gun Bound and figured here was as good a place as any to ask for help. Back in the late 80's and early 90's my dad had a DOS PC and I have fond memories of playing TankWars with my family members on it (turn based using the keyboard or mouse) I am hoping there are some games similer that you guys can point me to. The catch is I want them for real multiplayer. I dont care about online or single player, I just want to be able to have some friends and family members over and play toagather like back in the day. It can be on any system or for PC. I already have the actual Tank Wars game for DOS but I would love to find a bit more modern version kinda like GunBound. It would be ideal to find something I can run on my modded XBOX (either native xbox software or something that can be emulated) If any of you guys have any ideas please let me know! Any kind of similer game or something like it will work. Thanks and throw me some ideas!
lol I found that about 20min ago and I posted a topic at Xbox scene to ask how hard it would be for someone to port it to Xbox (its open source and free) Does anyone here have a idea on whats involved with porting it? I know you need a XDK to do it at least.
Off the top of my Head.. Worms (2D Games)... very similar to Scoreched earth.. Anybody remember.. Gorillas for dos? (I remember it being hid in Windows 95 dos shell or q basic.. just waiting to be played!!)
Seconded. The buy in is a little steep though... A saturn Quake Duke Nukem 3D A multitap Six Controllers The next best thing is Worms, but nothing beats Death Tank Zwei. Six Simultaneous players shooting all over the place=the shiznit.
Great game, I believe that there are some PC ports/remakes of it. Groundfire or Hell Fire or something like that. Neither are the same as having the Saturn going but still, not too bad.
A few years back someone ripped both Death Tank and DT Zwei as standalone ISOs that can be played with most Saturn emulators, but since this series doesn't have a single-player mode it's not really worth taking this route. Of course, it's a little tough these days getting all the necessary elements to unlock the second and make it worthwhile (including Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, a six player adaptor and up to seven controllers), but the original was unlockable in the US version of Exhumed - sorry, I mean Powerslave as it was known over there! - by collecting all the hidden Lobotomy team dolls. To say he cooked up the original in his spare time, Ezra Dreisbach doesn't get enough credit for making a game that out-did any other Saturn multiplayer title, including Bomberman with its hi-ten feature, while also pulling off some incredible PC conversions not even Sega could probably have managed. I seriously miss Lobotomy Software, as they had the potential to do great things on the Dreamcast - can you imagine if they'd been in charge of porting Quake III or Half Life?! As is so often the case with all things Sega, things could have been so different...
