Looking for PC components (mobo cpu)

I'm looking for a cpu and motherboard as my computers has started to go on me and i am hoping someone here would be able to help me with one or other or even both.

Would prefer to have an intel compatible motherboard possible one that can be used with older cpu's and be upgradable to newer dual core, intel cpu (P4 or celeron). Not to bothered about getting them both together or only one thing

I'd be happy to spend under £100 for both cpu and mobo or resonable for one or other preferably as cheap as possible because i've not got much at the moment

    I can spare either:

    a AMD 3200+ 64bit and mobo

    or

a AMD Athlon 2500+ XP Barton core with mobo

Im in the US though if that matters but your money is worth double here to me ^^ I can even spare a bit of ram with your choice (maybe 512megs DDR333?)

Nothing set in stone yet but if interested I will look into my closet of horrers further lol >_>

How much would you be willing to pay? Its a 64bit 3200+ Skt.754

The motherboard is a gamers board. Its a LanParty UT with 4 ram banks AGP8x and SATA and all the other normal good stuff.

I have ALL paperwork and box and probably even receipt for the mobo. I dont have the box for the CPU anymore.

Also the CPU fan on the setup is aftermarket. Its a large blue fan and heatsink with blue leds. Looks quite sharp and the slots on the mobo are yellow glow in the dark color >_>

diddydon how much would you want for the p4 and what socket type is it??

Mcjohavan, i am not sure about price yet, i'd have to check out prices so if i did give you an offer it would be a fair one.

hoping someone had a skt775 mobo and cpu as i have an aftermarket fan for a 775 cpu.

Err, what? For £100, you will EASILY get a SKT775 board, chip retail boxed with fan and 1Gb DDR2 ALL BRAND NEW.

Here's an example price we sell things for:

    AsRock CONROE1333-D667/M/ASR R1.0 £39
    (Intel 945 chipset, 1333FSB, 2xDDR2 667, 1xIDE, 4xSATA-2, Intel 950 Graphics.....)

    Intel Celeron 420 £30
(or Celeron E1200 Dual Core £45)

    1Gb DDR2 667 or 800MHz £19

That's under £90 for a brand new board, chip, RAM and heatsink/fan!

I'm sure you have PC shops in Edinburgh ;-)

*edit* oops, I can't count! Under £90.. although you could do it for under £80, probably!

Micjohvan - Diddydon can have the athlon 3200+ if he wnats

Diddydon - may still be interested in the P4

TheDeathcoaster - I'll pass on that CPU

I haven't had a chance to open up the P4 machine as yet, but will do so at the weekend and fine out what socket type it is, all i know is its got a 'effing huge Heatsink and fan on it, but its incredibly quite when running

Price wise, really have no idea, £40-50? and ill include 512mb or 1gb ddr ram, and possibly a AGP gfx card as well

Ill find the specs on the mobo as well, but from what i remember it has integrated lan, gfx, 5.1 sound, firewire, 4x usb on the back plus 2x internal connections for another 4 at the front, im pretty sure the AGP slot is 8x and *think* it has a couple of SATA connections on it as well as 2x IDE

Cool, thats great if you could find out what socket it is, depending on the socket, actual model of p4 and model of motherboard i may only need the cpu but £40-50 sounds ok for both.

i'm not in a hurry so whenever you find out is fine with me.

diddydon just find and run cpuz or the like and it should tell you all of your specs without needing to open the case

Right, ive fetched out the PC today

Its a ECS 661FX-M7(V1.1) mATX motherboard

    http://www.shopping.com/xPF-MB-ECS-661FX-M7-v1-1-SiS661FX-MB

800mhz FSB, Socket LGA775, 2x DDr, 8x AGP, 2x Sata, Intergrated lan, 5.1 sound, Gfx 4x rear USB, and 2 internal slots for another 4 external

    The Processor is a P4 3.2ghz, 800mhz FSB, HT (SL7PW)

Ive just stripped it all out, cleaned it up, put new thermal paste on the CPU, (which has a Coolermaster Heatsink and fan)

Also got a stick of Crucial 512mb DDR 333 Ram to go with it if you want it?

The only thing i havent got to go with it (as kept for myself) is the PSU, which youll need a minimum of a 250w one with ATX and the small 4pin connector as well

If you want them how does £50 for the lot including delivery sound? i might also have a old ATI radeon gfx card to include with it, but may still need that yet

    Let me know

    Andy

PC world suck ass, Mapels is MUCH better.

PC world employees are a bunch of uneducated jerks, unwilling to assist and pretending to know all - even the fucking store manager mislead me.

Stay away from them unless you really need something.

Yes, couldn't agree more, but they sell parts there and then, at often reasonable prices. Who needs staff assistance?

If you wanna pay less, go online. OCUK or ebuyer are probably the best - newegg in the US ;-)

I sometimes buy from OCUK but with limited funds to spend i didn't want to go there or i would have spen more than i could afford to.

Diddydon thanks for finding that out, i would be interested in just the cpu if that ok with you or do you want the cpu and motherboard to go together? i'd pay something between £25- 30 for the cpu
