    Hi all,
I'm after a mod that will increase the base fan speed so if I set the speed low and the console gets hot, the fan will just increase then go back down once it has cooled..

    Hope this makes sense, Thanks:topsy_turvy:

Well I can't think of an easy way other than using amplification with a transistor. That is if you want the system to still be able to throttle the fan. If not then just wire it to the main switched +12V line coming out of the PSU(if there is any).

If you want a controlled fan, just use any non-inverting amplifying layout for transistor amplification to raise the voltage just a little bit higher than the power coming from the fan power connector. Just check the output voltage of the fan power connector(when system is idle) and use it to divide the +12V to get your amplification gain factor. Then wire the whole thing up according to the transistor layout you're using. Be sure to use transistors that can handle currents high enough to supply the fan with what it needs.

Or if you have a FAT console made in China, there's a chance you can swap out the fans. Most system made in China had an inferior 15-blades fan while those made in Japan mostly had 19-blades fans. It was said that these had better airflow and were less noisy.
