Hi guys, Just looking for working sata to ide adapter .long time year I could find compatable one from ebay but I'm not sure for now.I 've found that some adapter is work but not more compatable(must connect with 80 pin cable or xbox bios version) By the way ,see my xbox original with full of emulators and friendly interface and starup animation.
nice setup. is there a start to finish guide on setting up an original xbox for something like this? I have an old xbox that needs some love.
I've been using this one with an SSD and the original IDE cable on and off for months, and it's been working quite well. I've also used this briefly and it seemed fine, although it's not my primary choice. I can't speak for the consistency of the supplied controller on either adapter. Good luck!
It looks to be the same one I bought from tiger direct back in 2010. It's been working great even today. I put electrical tape over the jumper pins though. I was afraid they would short themselves out on the hard drive housing.
That 's a good idea.Now I 'm ordered from ebay with same model as Taemos have,a green one.I will update soon when items arrive.
For posterity, here's another (much cheaper) source for "those green ones". I'm using one w/ a SSD in a chipped Xbox, works fine.

I ordered two of the Star-Tech Adapters (RED) They can be a bit dodgy (its not my hard drives) you can get error 13 and error 21 on boot up. I managed to put some electrical tape around the device to prevent any shorts and that seemed to fix the issue. However if i move the hard drive around there is a chance i have to fiddle with it again. This made it very sensitive at first cloning the original hard drive and plugging the IDE into the adapter after scanning for devices. Luckily everything worked great! The only thing about these adapters I don't like is the in game reset with the controller will not launch you back to the dashboard as you will get a system error. Luckily Emulators can launch you back to your dashboard. If you have any xbox games that have xbox live, Remove the updatedash.xbe and sign into xbox live to go back to your main dashboard without using the non working in game reset with this device. Just an idea for you if you find that rebooting the console takes much longer.
I have had great luck with Kingwin ADP-006 which you can get at Fry's, Microcenter, Amazon, Newegg and eBay etc.$10 USD or so each at Fry's the last time I got some and they work fine with every drive I've tried so far.
