It seems I can't use my 360 controlers on my laptop with out turning my 360 on. I can't seem to find a Saturn-USB converter I know mayflash made one but nobody seems to have them. I've been thinking of getting this for all my emulator needs But I'm hearing bad things about the analog sticks (and I'd be using it with Saturn games that use the analog) then there are these but they look like crap and user reveiws seem to crap all over them, and the offical sega ones aren't available (I've looked) Suggestions?
I've got a probably bootlegged Saturn USB controller (although it says Sega on it) and honestly, can't tell the difference between that and a real Saturn controller. And obviously, you need a 360 arcade stick too if you don't already have one...

With a wired 360 controller you can use a program called JoytoKey (I think) to let you use it on your PC.
I have a wireless adapter dongle for the wireless 360 controllers. It was cheap and it works pretty seamlessly. -adrianc
Or just use the Microsoft provided drivers? Unless you mean for apps that don't support pads? I have used an xbox pad for my pc gaming for a long time - never had any issues as adrianc above.
Like adrianc said, you need a wireless adapter. You have to pair it with the adapter just like you would pair it with a 360. If you do that, it won't turn your 360 on. And of course if you get a wired one, you don't have to do that at all. The advantage of using a 360 controller is that it's natively supported by a lot of games and programs without any setup necessary.
I plugged it in through the plug and play kit so It works on my laptop....it just also happens to turn on my 360 at the same time Might be fun to attempt to play 2 games at once. But yeah I might get the wireless dongle if I can't find anything to use saturn pads on my lappy with
I'm pretty sure you can't use the plug and play kit in that way. It's only for charging. The only way to connect a wireless controller to a PC is with the wireless receiver. That, or you could get a wired controller. If you mainly play older games, a Saturn pad would probably be better since the 360's d-pad sucks balls.
The play-and-charge cable does nothing but supply power through the USB cable, your controller's still in wireless mode while using the cable.
You would think that it wouldn't work but just for the hell of it I plugged it in and it found the drivers for the pad and everything. I've used it with no battery in either. But whatever. The D-pad isn't an issue I'm using this lovely thing it's Jesus in controller form or would be if it had 6 face buttons. hence why I need something to connect saturn pads to my laptop
It'll find the drivers, but you can't actually use it without the wireless adapter. Just go to the game controller settings, there won't be a 360 controller in there.
oh ok I didn't actually try it with anything Anyways how is that 6 button Hori pad? does anyone have it?
The ONLY way to get the Wireless 360 controller to work wirelessly on PC is to get a Wireless PC 360 controller unfortunately. Microsoft and their marketing scams.
I've used the "improved" 360 controller and still thought the d-pad sucked. At least compared to a Saturn pad.
I've been using it to play Mortal Kombat since yesterday my game is..... so so but better than it was with that piece of shit PDP Marvel pad
