Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask for help on this matter. My snes has the vertical bar when I play games My snes info SNS-CPU-1CHIP-03 serial un32180384 I was reading up on potential fixes and other mods and found some of these links. http://retrorgb.com/store.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGVn9sRoV-g http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...SNES-vertical-bar-Quick-and-easy-fix&p=707780 Would anyone be able to fix my vertical line problem and do any other mods that I should get.
One mod you can do is remove those annoying tabs. Just take a pair of pliers and snap them out. With this, you can play Japanese Super Famicom games. If you added the SuperCIC region mod, you can play PAL games too (you will need an RGB SCART/RGB JP-21 cable and converter to play in color). I would offer to help but I wouldn't have enough money to ship it back to you atm. Which state are you in?
I'm in Hawaii island on Kauai. I really want my vertical bar gone that is a must. I'm not sure if just a couple transistors would help or it needs something like https://squareup.com/market/retrorgb/retrorgb-amp-for-snes-n Also wouldn't mind a recap on the system i would pay for time, parts and shipping.
I've always wanted to visit Hawaii. My parents had their honeymoon there in 94. That amp is for the SNES Mini/Jr Model SNS-101 and early N64s. It allows them to output RGBS via SCART and JP-21 cables. It wouldn't do much on an SNS-001. I can do the 2 capacitor mod which would be a couple dollars for the 220uf capacitors. Since it is something so simple, I wouldn't charge for labor. Another issue I have is that I don't have the proper bit for opening an SNES. Mine got stripped when closing my N64. If you can wait until the beginning of May and if you can pay for shipping to Florida and possibly back (I might be able to pay for return shipping), I could take a look at it once I get the proper bit then. I have RGB SCART cables that use C-Sync so it will give the best possible picture out of the system and it would help to see if the fix gets rid of the bar completely or near completely. I noticed you have a 1CHIP SNES. I've heard that those systems have the best RGBS video quality. If you haven't already, get an RGB SCART cable and a converter to use them. An XRGB mini is expensive but worth it from what I've heard. The DVD0 series is also good from what I've heard. Both are expensive with the former being $400 and it uses Japanese RGB JP-21 cables (same as SCART but with a different pinout). Combining those with the SNES and you will see colors you've never seen before... unless you played the same game on the Wii U virtual console.
I want to get a frameister but cash has been tight. I'm also waiting to get on the wait list and eventually get http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?52513-gscartsw-automatic-8-1-SCART-RGB-switch Before I get the frameister.
I also want the frameister but it's too expensive. If it wasn't for the Wii U having/getting good games, I would have bought one last May with my high school graduation money. Got a Wii U instead and I don't regret it one bit. I saw that switchbox in the marketplace earlier. It looks interesting and if it wasn't for the price, I would get one. I only use 2 SCART cables (SNES and Genesis/CD/32X combo) so manually swapping cables on my SCART to HDMI converter is fine for now. I will be getting one when I get more SCART cables.
Well if nobody if says ok that lives closer to me I'll let you know. I want to recap it also which I bought a cap kit for it already.
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. By the time I went to respond to your PM, the forums were gone! Glad to see they're back and kickin'! I'd say your best bet might be someone located in continental US, postage rates to / from here (Australia) are pretty pricy. Out of curiosity, does Hawaii get subsidised postage back to the homeland?
