Is there really any hope at this point? The President can't even be found, apparently he's gone missing. You're about to see 5,0000 gaijin released into Japan with no jobs and little money for the most part. I think that fact alone will make the government act...heh.
You know the old company I worked for (which had a paltry 100 or so employees in comparison) did the exact same thing not one month after I quit. (I guess I was the magical jenga block that was holding it together). But yeah, I was pretty sure they wouldn't recover, although there will be plenty of schools to pick up the scraps. At least half of their students (if not more) will go to competitors in the case that they bail out. Will be a shame. I'll miss this Nova Usagi commercials.
Hopefully the government will kick out most of the underqualified overpaid gaijin will be sent home and the Government might get it's finger out and overhaul the education system, but there is more chance of Sega making a new console and buying out Nintendo 3 years later. Although as a bonus that stupid pink usagi mascot will disappear for ever, so it's not all bad. [/rant] Anyway given that they have been late paying staff, have closed a large number of braches (mainly due to non payment of rent) and not refunded students, it wasn't going to be a surprise if they did crash and burn. Oh if any English teachers out there are offended by the overpaid underqualified comments, these were first made by a friend of mine who is a English teacher...
The biggest, or at least was, English conversation schools in Japan. Known more for lax standards and paint by numbers than anything. Oh, and the oft mentioned pink rabbit. I enjoyed the CM's they had when I was last over there, that poor beared buy trapped in the playground.... he was a pedo right? Had to be, why else was he there alone?
Open up a local place near the failing nova and cash in on people who want a new teacher. The only thing I will miss is their mascot.
If any of their large competitors (or even small ones) are smart (which they very well may not be) then they've been picking the bones for quite some time now.
