I've known about this version of Shadow Warrior, but didn't think much of it at the time. Mobile gaming was pretty much synonymous with obscurity; next to no documentation, for example. There were tons of other mobile versions of popular console/PC titles, all official; they were based on pre-iOS/Android platforms. They've all faded away.

Most are essentially lost to time.
EDIT: There used to be tons of sites where you could download pretty much any J2ME based mobile game. Same for Windows Mobile, RIM and some others. These sites are either gone, no longer offer any files or replaced their library with Android and iOS games.

Did anyone back these up? Is there an archive of these sites anywhere?

I don't think so. I used to go down google and bing image rabbit holes in 2007-2011; used several different key words and stumbled on pages upon pages of mobile game download sites, forums, news sites, etc. Mostly North American and Chinese releases, but name a title/series and there was guaranteed to be at least one official mobile version of it.
Had to be several gigabytes of average 150kb game files lost over the years

Bit of a shame. I've actually talked to the developer of this stating that the game was in fact released. Even saying that he got permission from Scott Miller himself. I've also asked chillingo which used to operate clickgamer but one of the reps returned with no luck.

Looks to be using same engine as Wolfenstein RPG and Doom RPG.

Could be using one similar to that, considering fps j2me games look like this. Need more info about this game and hopefully a copy.

Hello bro. Yeah, it is very easy to find those old game. Mostly used to be developed for Symbian OS (Nokia, Ericsson), which was the most famous mobile system before android. This site has plenty of these old games, I used to download these games to play on my old mobile some years ago (before android).

    Cheers.

The game you linked is actually different from the one OP is looking for, sadly.

.sis game files, I remember hopelessly trying to find an emulator for those. Midp Java applications were newer IINM, and were much more popular; that was the standard before smartphones. That site has a pretty decent selection, but doesn't nearly scratch the surface of what used to be found online. Hell, they used to have WAY more than what's there now.

The symbian version is merely just a port of the pc version to s60 phones, the one that I'm finding is an obscure j2me game

Probably the best you could do is image search shadow warrior involving key words like jar, j2me, mobile, the developer name. Sometimes you need to go through many pages of results.
