I just got a huge box of stuff from Hong Kong. They've all got original powercables and av cables and little bits and bobs not pictured. I had to drag out all my old console to test them Can anyone name them all? I know most but some I've never seen before. Just thought you might like a look. I took really high res pics so 56k guys don't even try. I'm going to take some really good pictures of these this week - it'll make a change from the 100x200 pics everyone seems to take... http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ghtresatk/preview/preview.htm
As far as i can see you have hughe pile of game doctors for the snes in various sizes, a n64 backup unit one gameboy unit and a few i'm not sure if they are for multiple systems or not.
That's a pretty cool box you got huh? I remember the first time i saw these kinds of things. A friend of mine used to have one for his SNES and one for his MegaDrive. He rented games and copied to 1.44mb disks. :smt030
What a load of cool items you have there :smt023 Most of them seem to be SFC , N64 and Game Boy back up units. Yakumo
Ah, no that's PC Engine... ;-) I would more than welcome any info I can get on these. I'm hoping to build my site into a good resource for pics and info (rather than just a place to sell stuff at high prices). Eventually though, once I make enough contacts things will be a lot cheaper and in heavy supply. And all prices are always nagotiable. Any way, most of these things are made by bung. I'm going to scan all the labels on the bottom and get some really nice big pics too,.
Where'd you buy them from? I hope not Mark Cheung or DTS/Ki, Gamechoice or NTSCo. You must have spent a fortune. You're going to sell them??? I can tell you probably anything you want to know about any of those. What is it you want to know? I've been thinking of opening up a copier business myself I guess i'll have to act fast to show you up 1) CD64 Plus (2nd revision) by UFO (128/256m RAM) 2) Game Doctor SF7 (32m standard) by Bung 3) Super UFO 8 by UFO (32m standard, extra 2m for RTS) 4) MGD II by Makko (Bung's original name) 5) MD DRAM I/O for MGDII and 16M Doctor card 6) SF DRAM I/O 7) Game Doctor SFVI (32m standard) by Bung 8) PCE SRAM I/O (8m Doctor Card + CR2025 I think battery for replacing in "Doctor Cell") 9) Game Doctor SFIII (16m-48m) 10) Turbo Game Doctor 6+ (by Venus) (4M ram) *good luck playing anything hehehe) 11) Another MGDII 12) Doctor V64 (128m/256m) I hope you'r enot missing the Emulation adapter. When you sell, keep me in mind for anything Famicom
I got them from a very nice man in Hong Kong. He saw my site and asked if I would like to go into business with him. I got a decent price - wasn't a steal though by any means. Here's what's happening. I've got big tuition fess to pay off so I opened my little web page (only stuff that actually belonged to me). Then my friend came along and said 'cool, put up some of mine too'. That's why some stuff is expensive on the site. It belongs to me and I wouldn't sell them for less. Now the site will hold rare/cool stuff I come accross and we sell a few hundered DC/Saturn/N64 games on eBay every week. The eBay stuff pays the bills and attracts people to the site (or so is the plan) and the stuff on the site cannot be bought anywhere else - to my knowledge at least. If anyone wants anything here or on the site MSM/E-mail me and we can haggle out a price. Email Tony@InsertGame.co.uk MSM Antony_Bernardo@hotmail.com Kyuusaku = I can keep/find anything you want. We're small but quite resourceful now...[/i]
I'll post my collection I suppose pretty soon. I'll put up a want thing there. Really, what I'm looking for is low prices because I buy copiers up in bulk. I've got a pretty large collection right now (~45 copiers) and would be willing to do trades if there is something you need in particular. I'm a huge collector/"historian" of copier goods but mainly my focus/expertice is in Bung and Front Fareast devices. I REALLY want to downsize my collection because I have many duplicates/redundant items.
Nope. I've only got 2, need 'em both. I'll post some of my stuff up sometime soon, I'm hesitant to display my crap since I haven't a nice way of showing it off... perhaps on my bed? (Plus most of my crap is in boxes from my move...) Also, instead of a V64, I'd suggest a CD64 for their price (and other features) IMO there are 3 reasons to own a V64: you are an avid Bung fan, someone gave you one, you want your backup unit to have a built in horrible VCD player.
I mainly wanted it because of how cool it is. I have always found back up units cool. I also want a CD64. The problem is, this stuff is kind of hard to find.
Are you after one for the proclaimed rarity or for actual use? This might help you change your mind: <rant>The MGDII Neo Geo I/O first of all can only be populated with 136m. This comes from 4x 32M DRAM Doctor Cards (which can cost up to $150 apiece from overpriced collectors) and 8M thats built into the card. Once you track down a MGDII, Neo Geo I/O, 4x 32M Doctor Cards you have a 136M "unit." 136M is 17mb. That is the MAXIMUM sized uncompressed "rom" set you can load into the unit. Think about it this way: the MGDII will require each "block" of the game to be broken into 8M chunks. Thats how all of Bung's devices allocate memory. Because the maximum you can format a high-density disk to is 1.6M you're short 400k of fitting 2 "blocks" of game onto a disk. Say you want to play a 15mb game. That requires you to load 15 disks! Games load about 8 megabites per minute so luckily, its only 15 minutes to load a game via disk! How many Neo Geo games are under 17mb anyways? I believe around 10%, which leaves you to the original launch games (which can be had for <$50 each anyways) All I have mentioned so far also isn't applicable because the Neo Geo format is entirely unknown because the game files have been lost over the last decade. (When emulators improved, the MGD2 dumps were replaced by binary dumps of the original ROMs) Most likely this knowledge on how to make compatible romsets will never surface. So the problems are: - Money (this setup will cost you no less than $1000) - Compatibility (you will never be able to play a game, unless you can reverse engineer all 9 ASICs inside the unit) - Even if you could figure out the format, each ROM is mapped to a particular area, you will be limited to that ROM size - If you could get that far, you will be stuck with 136M (which can only play launch games) - If you could play those launch games, you will spend 15 minutes loading games from disks The Neo Geo I/O is also not compatible with the PC Link, presumably because the Neo Geo adapter requires a bootstrap provided on a special utility diskette that has also escaped mankind. This means that you're stuck with the disk drive.</rant> I'm after one too.. for collection purposes obviously. Unless I can find a Bung employee who can help me out with files, or I can get ahold of Bung's tech. (Likely impossible) I'm also though interested in creating my own Neo Geo development RAM cartridge. I don't know enough about hardware to pull one off yet but I'm just starting to learn now. Making a RAM cartridge now adays is SO much more feasible and it shouldn't be too long until someone makes one. Expect me to make one within the next 10 years (Or at least until I get into and finish college)
-Kyuusaku, you seem to know quite alot on this topic. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I've been thinking about getting a backup device for my european pal snes. It has to be very easy to operate (like put roms on to cartridge and go..) Kind of like the modern flashcarts for the gba. What would you recomend me? And what is a good place to look for it? :-D
Files (you know what I mean) generally are distributed on the net in the improperly labeled *.smc format. Which copier you choose is entirely up to how much work you want to do. Your options: - Buy a moreso hard to find (and more expensive) copier which accepts .smc files (Wild Card series) most games you can obtain and just put on a disk and play. The SMC format is the Wild Card's format so unless the games are headerless, (which you'd have to fix) splitting and loading a game should be a piece of cake. Here are the more common FFE devices: Super Wild Card (32M - $125) Super Wild Card DX2 (64M - $300) - Buy a Game Doctor unit (cheap, easy to get) and you will need to convert ever file you come across to the Game Doctor format. There are plenty of tools on the net for this but it can be time consuming if you're not used to copiers. These units are very easily upgradable and well supported now adays because of their price. Game Doctors also allow you to store multiple games in memory (sixteen 8M games with a 128M unit) Game Doctor SFIII (32M - $30) Game Doctor SFVI (32M - $45) Game Doctor SF7 (32M - $50) Game Doctor SF7 (128M - $100) - Buy a 64M flash cart from Tototek. This connects to your computer via parallel port, lets you store games in FlashROM so you don't need to constantly load games off disks. Is very easy to use, you will not need to split or worry about file formats because the computer loading program takes care of everything. Allows you to store multiple games on the flash cart. - Buy a moreso obsolete copier such as a Pro Fighter which aren't really available because they lack features such as parallel ports and don't have any modern transfer software. IMHO, the best solution for all new backup people is to get a GDSF7. Go to http://www.tototek.com, pick one up. They have the cheapest rates generally. They also have 21st century made RAM for the units so if you purchase upgrade memory, you can be assured quality. Also, tototek is owned by a very dedicated owner who will go very far out of his way to please his customers. If you want to play every commercial *file*, you will need to purchase an extra 16M of RAM. If you're an aspiring game developer, I suggest maxing out the machine at 128M Once you get one, head on over to http://forums.cherryroms.com which is probably the best copier forum around now adays. The best program to use in conjunction with any backup unit is ucon64, available at http://ucon64.sourceforge.net Hope that helped.
I can't get tototek url to work is it just me? edit: there was a period stuck on the end. Only need to remove that and works fine.
