So, for me to even go to sleep at night, I have to have some kind of ambient noise. Sometimes a fan works, or having the TV on at a low volume works. However, as some of you might know, there are some commercials that come on at night that are 50 times louder than the actual program! ITS FREAKING MADNESS!!!! It honestly wants to make me find the person who's responsible for that retarded advertisement on the TV and lock them in a basement, strap them to a chair, and every time I freaking get woke up by one of their retarded commercials, go down and torture them for it >.< Does anyone else feel this way? At least it's not as bad as trying to sit down and watch the news, just to get snarled at by Greta van Sustertan..
Lucky for you loud commercials were recently banned, at least in America. Personally I never pay attention during commercials so I never notice how loud it is.
1) Ban loud commercials. 2) Advertisers create seizure inducing commercials. 3) Profit. 4) Ban all advertisements.
I feel like last year during football season, we'd have the game on at a low volume and then commercials would come on and they'd be super loud. But I haven't noticed that this year while watching football. Were loud commercials banned recently?
I don't think so, if they were, then it didn't do much good.. Considering the only reason I'm awake right now is because of a loud ass proactive commercial, stupid fuckers. Note: I live in America..
Yes, the ban went into effect December 13, 2011. I don't watch much TV so I can't say whether or not there is a difference. Though as APE mentioned, that doesn't stop commercials from being more "flashy" and "colorful" to attract the attention lost from the ban. Pick your poison.
This is another scourge brought to you by marketers. It happens on the radio, too. You have it on a low volume setting, but the fucking commercials blow up your cranium. Really, the mass media treat us like animals. Retarded animals, at that. I told my (very incompetent) radio production teacher back in the day that doing this was immoral - and she said that "people in the media should do whatever brings them money". With this sort of education, who would expect the media to respect people's comfort or enjoyment?
Don't know about you all, but I make it a point to never buy the crappy products on these loud commercials.. They're not getting a penny from me.
I don't understand the point of them, is it to make us more likely to buy the product, if I see an advertisement that is A. Loud as fuck. B. Flashy I typically don't bother watching or paying attention because it's annoying.
Loud TV and radio adds where in japan last year too but I haven't noticedthem at all this year. I hate that shit. It does anything but make me want to buy their shit or like the company.
Now if they would only ban those "Non attorney spokesmen" commercials and once again ban pharmaceutical commercials I would be a happy person.
I've never understood the purpose of annoying commercials, they just make me avoid whatever's being advertised...then again, I also think the saying "all publicity is good publicity" is a load of bullshit.
Brand recognition is enough. Average consumers do not pay attention to the actual contents of the programme, but they do recall simple concepts. At least - according to some early 20th century theories of mass communication. Fuck, I know "Head on" is supposed to be "applied directly to the forehead" - and "I bet my sweet Aspercreme" that, if the IRS comes to my place of business or I'm being audited, Tax Masters and Bluetax will remove wage garnishes and get me a settlement. And I live in a different country, where these god forsaken products are not available.
