I've got a DTL-T10000 with a borken controller port :sorrow:. If anyone has one to sell or one from a version 0 PS2 please pm me. Thanks!
I am almost sure that only a TOOL controller port will work there... To be able to use a SCPH-10000 controller port on a TOOL you would need to modify it.
The pinout of the flatcable that connects from the controller port to the PS2 mainboard is different on the TOOL and the consoles, meaning that the traces routing are different.
hrmm, gonna have to look into that since i have been looking for a controller port since december with no luck and not being able to use the tool is kinda driving me crazy.
Can you not get that one repaired? Could you post some good high res pictures of the damage? Why not just fit a new flat ribbon connector?
Unfortunately my camera isn't the greatest but from what i can see is that the left side of the ribbon connector is disconnected from the board. When i look closer i can see that it took a bit of the top layer of the board as well. In other words on the controller board it has a small white area where the top layer (green) ripped off when it broke. Now on the back of the ribbon connector are a bunch of small silver lines which i assume is what transmits information from the connector to the ports, those are disconnected also since the gap from the board to the connector is big enough to see right through.
Okay i took some better photos and this is what i can see.. On the board (where the ribbon goes) it looks like the previous owner had glued the ribbon connector to the edge and away from where the small sliver connectors meet the ones on the board.
Are all the connections still OK (other than the large pad on the left?) As I am pretty sure I could repair that for you.
i've repaired one of these too. it's fairly annoying but beats buying a new TOOL the pictures are too small to tell but if all the contacts are fine it should be repairable with some time and love. if all else fails, i do have a spare of these controller ports, but i will only consider selling it once everything else failed, the port on my TOOL is already repaired once and it's a type of part i really want to keep a spare off
Thanks for the reply guys and sorry for the delay but i had to work :disgust: Okay so all other connections are okay and still in tact except for the part that broke off to the left. it also looks like there isn't any type of glue on them either on the connector but i still have to check the connectors on the board more just to make sure. Bad_Ad84, Thanks for the offer and i will keep it in mind, i think for now i would like to attempt this on my own with so that i know what to do if it happens again. I have a spare controller port from a scph-30001 that my brother in law gave me and they seem to be somewhat the same so i figure i would try it on that fist and if it goes well i will go for it on the tool port. As for time and love i have a lot of both since as i am off for the next 2 days with little to do, if someone could point me in the right direction in terms of a "how to" sheet or video that would be awesome!
I had a similiar problem with a Beamer, same type of connector broke off (All IO pins where OK) I soldered first pin and made sure it aliged right, then soldered the last one. Make sure you use a fine tip with a temp controlable soldering iron and maybe the same type of Solder used on the board. Ow and clean the pads with a bit of Solderwick is also good. Practicing on a CD/dvd drive is also good to do (I did and most newer (broken) drives have a connector like this or parts this small.) I did not use any video's im sorry, and the device is now again broken because we found out the stress on the connector was to high anyway for daily use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPtbEd65CCI Just a Iphone FPC connector replacement. Solderpaste and small tip. also patiance is used here I think. Good luck
Retail PS2s have different pinout on the flat cable as I stated before. It won't work The SCPH-10000 has the exact same pinout on the controllers flat cable as all the other retails.
