Luck with penny .o1 cent auctions??

Discussion in 'Rare and Obscure Gaming' started by PoopAndHammer, Jun 30, 2005.

  1. I just won about 15 new sealed Dreamcast games for .01 cents per game. I see these auctions all the time and finally said what the hell, after all they're sealed so I have collectable duplicates of my games that are open. Have you guys had luck with these auctions or do the sellers ever try to slide out of the purchases.

I'm hoping This works out. Even at the 6.00 per games in shipping I cant beat 90.00 for 15 sealed DC games. (Games that I wanted like space channel 5, Seaman complete, House of the Dead, Sonic Adventure, Jet Grind Radio etc...)

    Too good to be true??

$0.01 auctions are amost always a scam, or a way to lure people to buy the game. For example, I remember seeing a seller pricing many of his older games at 0.01 Buy it Now, and then charge $10-15 for shipping. Even if it doesn't have a BIN price, most will use the same tactic with the shipping.

Just out of curiosity, could you post everything you bought, and the price you bought them for?

I've won a few of those penny auctions and never had any problems. Mostly it was stuff "other" people were just trying to dump like Dreamcast Mouses or common games.

This does not work in Mexican auctions. Very low price auctions generally say, hidden in the description, that the low price is not the actual price. Also, sellers take their own "personal" reserve and they simply don't sell you the item if they don't really like the final price.

And yeah, people tend to screw you on postage, too.

I once won Virtua tennis (NTSC DC) for 1p plus postage (£1.50 i think...)
Unfortunately, the disc was scratched to buggery and wouldn't play :(
