Luigi's Mansion was the big reveal of the 3ds announcement years ago and now its finally out. Japan release happened a few days ago and the US release was midnight tonight on the E shop, Sunday in stores. So far its really impressive graphically and I highly recommend a 3DS XL for it. Also the gameplay is fantastic and just like the gamecube version with some nice tweaks like using money to upgrade things. One thing about the boxed version is that the Japanese cases have great interior artwork but they left it out of the US release.
Just picked up my copy. Seems like it's going to be a great game, I just kinda wish they didn't have the mission structure. I mean, I get WHY they do, but it's still a little annoying to be yanked out of a mansion while you've still got some exploring left to do.
I'll be picking this one up in a few days when my local game store gets in. (Screw wal-mart after the pikachu 3DS XL Fiasco :/)
I was looking forward to this, but then I sold my 3DS due to lack of good new games. Too bad, but then this game alone wouldn't be enough to justify keeping it. I was hoping for a WarioWare game as well, but that never happened. I've still yet to sell any of my games, partly due to laziness and partly because I don't want to have to deal with eBay bullshit. By the way, the actual title of the game is Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
Actually its only Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon in the US. All other regions are Lugi's Mansion 2. I just went with 3ds in the title so people knew immediately what i was referring too.
i got it 2 days ago, just finished the first mansion, the game is pretty good. To play the game with 3d on and a 3ds XL is horrible.
Is it remastered or just a straight port? I won't be buying any straight gamecube ports. Ocarina of Time 3DS was worth buying as it was a proper remake. edit: Hurr durr, just googled. it's a sequel.
Beat Luigi's Mansion 2 last night and played through a 25 story Scarescraper level on Hard (multiplayer mode). Single Player: The first four mansions were fantastic, especially the 4th one . The 5th mansion was a huge let down IMO. It just focused too much on having themed rooms, and in doing so it lost any personality it may have had. I was also a bit disappointed by the boss fights. The first boss fight was kind of a neat puzzle. Then after that the puzzle elements disappeared and they became more action oriented. In particular, I felt the 3rd boss was a complete waste and the 4th one was pretty much nothing but action. They kinda came back to the puzzle-ish elements for the final two bosses, but it was still nowhere near the level of the first boss, which is a shame. I also kind of felt that Next Level Games slacked towards the end. The wonderful 4th mansion only had 3 missions. The 5th mansion had more missions, but it felt more action based than adventure-ish. For sure, it had its moments as far as puzzles went, and if you pursue the gems it had some fantastic stuff in that line, but overall I felt the missions were too focused on fighting ghosts. Despite my complaints, I do feel that Luigi's Mansion 2 is a fantastic game. It's one of those games that just oozes charm and it has a ton of stuff to do. Unfortunately, a lot of stuff could have been better. Online is fun, though I've only played Hunter mode. With four people it's a bit crowded, but I had fun with 2P co-op last night. I can see how it would be addictive (as the bosses are unique ghosts that can go into your ghost vault, GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL!!!) but without any type of stat tracking or without some OBVIOUS StreetPass functionality that shows off your ghost vault, it just kinda feels empty. Also, I must say, the 3DS is killing it this year. Already we've gotten Fire Emblem: Awakening, Etrian Odyssey IV, and Luigi's Mansion 2. Next month we get SMT: Soul Hackers, and then in May there's Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and possibly Project X Zone, then in June we get Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Seven games in half a year? That's awesome!!!!
Hey, does anyone know how to get the little egad heads (star like things under player icon when connecting) on multiplayer? I only have one for completing the game. I have seen people with 2 and it looks like there is room for a third. I have atleast 2 stars for each mission and have collected every boo and most gems. Do I get it for collecting all the gems, or for getting 3 stars on all levels, or for unlocking everything in multiplayer? If anyone knows, that would be great.
