I'm trying to repair a Lynx II for a buddy, the system turns on (so it is not the usual power issue) but the screen is entirely black. I'm not sure if I am just seeing the backlight, when I press the backlight button, there is no change! Thanks for the help!
I have never had a Lynx, nor did I ever repair one. I did have a similar problem with the Original Game Boy not loading games. I just had to clean out the cart slot with cleaning alcohol several times (from the inside). I had to clean it because the battery corrosion on it was so bad that it reached the pins of the cart slot and made one or more of them non-functional. Also, if the backlight button doesn't work, then it might just be the backlight is burnt out. I know on the Game Gear that if the backlight is out, it is impossible to see anything on the screen (and would assume the Lynx is similar). Of course, unless the sound is also broken, you would hear the game. Hope this was helpful.
