I'm using iTunes right now, but I don't really care for it. I'm pretty spoiled from using foobar2000, but unfortunately there's no OS X port. I'd like something that is relatively light on system resources and has a nice interface (doesn't mean flashy, just functional). Songbird is out because it does WAY too much and last time I used it it gobbled up RAM. Any suggestions? Edit: Oops, just realized this should probably go in the PC section. Sorry folks.
Yeah, iTunes sucks. I was looking for something myself. I believe there's liteAmp or some shit... a lite version of Winamp basically. If you aren't afraid of a challenge, figure out how to compile GNU stuff and get Amarok going. It rocks. I use it on my Linux box, and have never looked back.
I like Amarok's interface, but it's really crash-happy every time I use it. I used Quod Libet for awhile and liked it, but nothing really beats foobar2000 to me. I was going to try and get some rudimentary Python practice and have a go at writing my own audio player, but I'm pretty lazy. iTunes isn't *terrible* for the Mac (not nearly as bad as the Windows port), but the little things really get to me. I'll look into other possibilities tomorrow after I get my desktop up and running. Cog was looking good, but the site hasn't been updated since February of 2008. No dice
Have you tried songbird, i use it on my windows machine and its pretty good with some decent addons, it also can work with ipod's via an addon and i use it to sync with my shuffle .
