Tonight, I had some fun. I went to a really good opera called Salome. A little history about that opera. It was written by Richard Strauss back in 1905. The Catholic church banned the opera due to its graphic nature, both gory and explicit. The opera is about a princess named Salome who becomes obsessed with John the Baptist, St. John. St. John turns her down and yells at her not to touch him for she is full of sin. She gets pissed. The king, asks her to do a very sexual dance. The king promises anything to give to her if she dances. She agrees, dances, in the last part of the dance she goes topless, literally (if only I could take a picture of that). She then tells the king she wants the head of John the Baptist on a silver platter. King relentlessly grants her that wish. She kisses the head, etc. King gets sick of her and tells the guards to kill her. End of opera. Heres a picture of me, my professor, and other classmates. If anyone has the chance go see this opera. The beginning is a bit slow but it picks up after someone dies.
