Mail to the UK; what the hell is going on?

I've send out tons of packages to foreign countries and none have got lost. I've send about 10 packages to the UK and THREE of them got lost. Today, I received yet another message that a package I've send got lost. Just what the hell is going on over there? Someone must be making a great living for himself by stealing packages and ebay-ing the content. ***holes. :angry

Anyone else had problems?

 

I havent had any problems sending to the UK, but sending from the UK to other countries in the EU is shite!

Sounds about right, our postal service is terrible.

I doubt they are being sold, more opened to see if it's worth stealing, and dumped if not. Only small valuables (jewlery, crediat cards etc) are likely to get stolen, the rest goes into the "damaged mail" bin.

I'm the lastest person to have lost out as a result of our terrible postal system - it looks as if I'll be reconsidering my vote AGAIN come the next general election, and hopefully the only major party I haven't yet sided with can sort out this problem once and for all...

 

Yep, the British post service is and always has been shit but it's not the worst !! Here is Yakumo's top 5 list of shite mail services.!! (I post about 20 parcels a week )

5 - France (takes for bloody ever)
4 - UK (stuff gets lost but if it doesn't it reaches there in 4 days)
3 - Canada (Loose stuff or take forever)
2 - Italy (Pure shite and lying bastards as well !!)
1 - Africa (Forget it !)

It may not be the mail if its parcels then it tends to be Parcel force - Which from what I gather is staffed by RM regects (sorry if anyone works for them here). Ive had countless lost or broken stuff thro them and plain to say they are UTTER CRAP.

 

Agreed. Canada's postal service isn't so hot. I've never had anything lost, but they take their sweet time.

I had a friend living in Nigeria a couple years ago and I sent her stuff all the time and never had anything lost or damaged. Sent things to South Africa many times with no problem, too.

Been using Ebay for 5 years - not one thing coming to me or sent out has been lost or stolen.

British postal service IMHO isn't that bad........... is it? You can stick a 1st class letter to northern scotland in a post box and it will be there next day.

I think the UK postal service is very expensive for what you get though.....

Alot of it was sensationalist crap. Yes its in a bad way but its no where near as bad as its made out to be. Yes there is some wrong'uns in there but its been sorted out. We have a good mail service better then most!

I was refering to Parcel force. For intents and purposes they are two different companys. I have yet to have a sucessful mailing with Parcel Force.

Anyway, back on topic....

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

When sending mail abroad, ALWAYS send it registered, by a service with compensation. When sending valuable items, even in the same country, again do likewise. It just isn't worth it to save a couple of quid and lose out altogether. Plus, registered services are usually faster and treated with more respect! A signed for service is best

Yakumo, French post is dire! If something goes missing over there, the claim takes weeks! Eventually, you have to jog Royal Mail's memory (or they send you a letter saying it is ongoing), then the French are obviously asked and they just turn around and say it never entered their country!! Useless!

Germany, on the other hand, is superb. I can buy things cheaper in Germany AND have them shipped to the UK for a reasonable rate, usually saving money! I can have a VCR shipped to me for the SAME price it would cost to have shipped within the UK! We obviously pay too much for our postal "service"!!!

 

You're right, shipping from/to Saturn is pretty bad. But Uranus isn't much better!

well it has to go through the canadian mail igloo and then it travels in 3 feet of snow by moose....but it gets delayed if were eating bacon..lol


i used to have a sub to egm, and i get the magizine bout a month late, some pages were torn, and it looked like someone had been reading it......

 

my worst experience was for an eBay package from UK seller that took few days short of 6 months to delivered and it was normal air mail that shouldn't take more than 7-14 days!
and top it off the package was half ripped as well...
