Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, who featured in every Star Trek series, died aged 76 on thursday (18/dec) due to complications related to leukemia.

Best known as the voice of the ship's computer, as well as Nurse Chapel in the original series, then Lwaxana Troi in TNG/DS9.

Only found out here in the UK on teletext today, not even a mention in any of the papers.

The Enterprise won't sound the same...

...and as Gene Roddenberry(creator of Star Trek)'s wife! She was also Executive Producer on Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda. They also set up Lincoln Enterprises as a result of an overwhelming demand for Star Trek memorabilia. It is nice to know that they both remained so involved with the show and truly appreciated the fans.

That is sad news indeed. She had leukemia. It is good to know that it was peaceful, and she had a relatively long life.

In keeping with her appreciation for fans, condolences may be left on the official site:

She will be missed by many.

RIP Majel. Reunited with Gene once more
