So I've been getting a lot of help from zelda hacking pros, and I started this project about 2 weeks ago. The whole idea behind this project is to recreate the experience totally without actually adding in new maps. These are the things I am doing in Project Rebirth. Replacing all of the music with music from other Zelda games. That includes file select screen, when Link dies, and ect.. New puzzles More difficult enemies and Bosses (I am increasing health, speed, and damage for whichever enemies/bosses however I see fit) Same story, new dialogue (I will be adding in some new things here, or there that was mentioned in Hyrule Historia) New Golden Skulltula locations New sword attacks Areas in the game will have changes done to them (The lost Woods for example now has trees, bushes, and fog like in A Link to the Past.) One extremely difficult secret boss I may do more like change the Big Poe locations. This game will be ED64 compatible, and of course with emulators like PJ64, and Nemu. Rebirth will be made using the Oot MQ Debug rom. I am the only person working on this so it may take a while. Maybe four months or more even since I am going to start working soon. I have a lot more done than what is shown on my Youtube account, but check it out, I will be posting new videos at least every two weeks. Let me know what you all think! https://www.youtube.com/user/Heavyz1390/videos
Thank you MasterofPuppets, and what can you do that might be of help? Every now and then there are things I may want, or need help with. Really I'm looking for someone who can make some good quality songs in midi format. It's tough finding midi songs for Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword. There are some but, 80% of them sound horrible. I use the midi files for the music in the project.
I've done very, very little hacking of the N64 Zelda games and have no idea where to begin in creating MIDIs (I'm a lot of help so far), but am usually a quick learner, as long as you're not wanting some extreme hacking. The N64 Zelda games are also my favorite, so that would help push me.
Mine too, and don't sweat it if you don't know how to do anything specifically. If you want you could help me by hunting down hex codes, certain patches and in some cases try them out. If you don't know how to work a Hex it's not complicated, and I could definitely tell you how. For some reason I have a hard time finding things about hacking the OoT Debug Rom, I only know of three sites that are useful, and youtube doesn't help much. I mean I know a decent amount already, but there are always other things I might not have seen. I've got pretty much everything covered, well besides making a new logo for the start up screen, if you can do that? If you can't, or don't want too it's no prob. Edited: Oh yeah and my new song for the Ice Cavern. The audio got delayed in the recording.
Yes, I have a copy of it without the blue flames in the background. Though I don't know how well it would look in the game.. I was told it had to be 160x160 and when I converted it the image was too fat. Maybe you would have to alter the image in some way before converting it to 160x160 so that it does not look so bad?
No, you can play the OoT hack Voyager of Time. To my Knowledge it is the first full game Zelda Hack that is compatible with ED64. There are plenty of Zelda hacks on the way, only one more I can think that is being aimed towards ED64 compatibility, and that is Zelda's Birthday 2. The other ones, may end up being ED64 compatible as well, I cannot say because their only focus is getting them to work on emulator. Unless ZB2 is released before mine, then my hack will be the second full game Zelda hack to be compatible with real hardware.
You can stop saying EverDrive 64 compatibility and change that for "real hardware" compatibility. All ED64 does is allow you to execute your ROMs using a real system instead of flawwed/inaccurate emulators that allow hacks to do things that don't actually work on a real system. ED64 is not the only way to run ROMs on a real console. There were numerous "backup units" that came before it including the Doctor V64, Mr Backup Z64, CD64. All of these devices will have the same problem with bad hacks as the ED64. Because they are all just ROM emulators. The problems with hacks again are when they don't actually work but emulators which are imperfect allow them to work when they would fail on real hardware.
Well excuse me, but I already knew that, and I've even said it. If you check in the post I made last before yours then you will see in the last sentence I said "Real Hardware". Who's going to think "It won't work with my 64Drive?"? Maybe someone who doesn't have an N64 flash cart, but that is all. I was under the impression most people here who owned an N64 flash cart specifically owned the ED64. You may not, and a few others, but that's not most people.
I wouldn't want anyone who owns something other than ED64 to not consider looking at my project. I don't care who owns what really, their preference is their preference. Thanks for the support though Duo. I will start saying "real hardware" more, I just don't really think about any of the other N64 flash carts when talking about the hack working on the N64.
You shouldn't assume some sort of tone from my post as being aggressive or something. I was just pointing out that *yes* when you say ED64 compatible it can raise the question of "so what it won't work on my 64drive or my Doctor V64?". Afterall for awhile the Star Ocean 96 megabit hack was "only" compatible with the Game Doctor SF7 equipped with 96 megabits of DRAM. Besides saying real hardware compatibility, saying flash cart compatible would be another good catch all type of term. Oh and I do own the EverDrive 64, it's excellent.
@Mottzilla Sorry for taking you post the wrong way, and thanks for the tip, I'll do just that. @ Master of Puppets. That's cool man, I've been told how to do it recently. I just have no experience using Gimp to edit the images, it's required to add an alpha transparency layer over the logo. I've downloaded the programs I need to convert the images for the game, to be honest though I have little knowledge as how to insert them into the game. The person who told me gave me the most vague instructions.
