I got a new phone and I am trying to make a decent game related ringtone for it. It supports midi but all the midis I try are WAY to quite even on highest volume. I tried increseing it but it dosent seem to help. I even tryed converting midi to another format and working with volume. It works fine on the PC but when put on the phone sounds REALLY loud and assey no matter what I do. So then I gave up on MIDI and went with MP3. However my phone wont let you use stirght mp3 as a tone because then no one would buy theirs. I have to convert my mp3 into a WAV, MIDI, AMR, or QCP. Well I got it shorted into a nice 30 second wav and put it on the phone. It does work and the volume is acceptable however the loss of quality is absured. It sounds like its coming off a record player theres static in there and all kind of shit. The phone is a brand new multimedia phone and the default ringtons sound really nice even at their loudest they dont sound like they are going to damage the speakers or anything. So, out of the 4 formats I can use which would be the best to maintain quality and are there any tricks to doing this better or anything? Please let me know as I have been on this for days with no luckl ray:
usually the volume setting on midi works for me... what program did you use for raising the volume? when listening to the wav you make for making a ringtone on your computer, listen them in mono and with flat equalization! then mod them to have them sound better and afterwards save with changes in wav. this way i'm sure it'll get a lot better
I dont really have a program other then anvil for midi volume and it says the volume for the tracks are already maxed. As for the wav file my phone has stereo speakers so I thought that would work. I will play around tommarow with it. If I cant get it working I may PM you with a midi or something and see if you can help me out. Thanks!
Convert the midi files to 32 channel SMAF if your phone can play them. SMAF is basically like midi but for phones. All phones in Japan can play SMAF files so maybe you can too. Yakumo PS: The software you need is by Yamaha so just do a google for that. There's probably loads of 3rd party ones too.
Theres a good open source midi editor here http://anthem.sourceforge.net/ that can adjust just about eveything in a midi file including the volume
devzone Im running Windows. Are there any good midi programs for windows? Also if I send the mp3 I want to someone here can they make it into a 30 second wav ringtone for me so I can see if its just me or my phone?
I could make a 30 sec Wav from an MP3 if you want?? just to see if its you or your phone or not as the case may be.
Oh sorry by bad Theres an open source wav/mp3 editor called Audacity (windows) from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ that can convert mp3 to wav
The phone is a BRAND new LG EnV2. Its made for multimedi and Vcast and all that. And you can copy MP3s over a data cable to the micro SD to use the phone as MP3 so I cannot understand why my ringtones im making sound like ass. The limitations for my phones ringers are: Wav - 30 Sec or Less / 3mb or less / 22050KhZ The stock ringtons are NOT midis and they sound perfect even at highest volume. But my tones all sound like you held a tape recorder up to a radio or something. The ringers I make all sound great on PC but assy on the phone. Here is a link to the MP3 im trying to get working. Its the Chocobo theme ^_^ http://rapidshare.com/files/116847683/Final_Fantasy_7_-_Chocobo_Battle_Theme.mp3.html
Ok its the 1st 30 secs at 22050KhZ with a size of 2.52mb, Sound ok to me on my comp and phone. http://rapidshare.com/files/116850479/Final_Fantasy_7_-_Chocobo_Battle_Theme.wav.html
Thanks downloading now. I am hoping to attain quality equel to the ringers that came on the phone. The ones I made sounded like I was on hold for square in japan with a crappy connection.
i'm not sure how that is, if the original ringtones sound ok then assuming you converted your mp3 to wav to the maximum spec of what your phone will take then it should also sound as good as the pre-loaded tones do. Its like when i make videos for my phone, i try and encode them in mp4 as its better than 3gp but i've got to use certain setting because if i go any higher all i get is sound.
It sounds the same to me. I think the problem is how im getting them there. Other then a special USB cable I have to text message the ringers to myself through the verizon website. They are placing the limits on what I can upload to their text service so I may be getting crappier then what I actually can. Im going to look for a cable and until then I will work with midis. If anyone here can jack the volume up on a midi file for me that would be super. Thanks for trying 3DO.
no Probs, Don't know much about midis otherwise i'd have tried jacking the volume. Oh just to let you know amazon have USB charging/data cable for your phone at $6.99 http://www.amazon.com/LG-Charging-ringtones-phonebook-Ringtones/dp/9711236567
No but thats a good idea. That way I can bypass the verizon website and rule that out as the problem. I will report back later with the results. Also the midi I want to use isnt that choco one I linked to above. For midi I wanted the Protoman whistle tune from MegaMan 3. The midi already works on my phone as a ringer but even on highest volume I usually cant hear it in my pocket >_<
Ok I just took the MP3 and put it stirght on the phone and played it like a normal MP3 thought the speakers and it sounds GREAT!!! Even on Highest volume its crystal clear. This tells me that its the verizon text thing Im having to do thats causing my problems. I am working on getting a data cable so I go abut this diffrently. If anyone can increse volume of midis for me please let me know and I will post up my protoman midi. Thanks again for all the help guys!
Im not sure how to do that barcode. Could you explain a little better? Or can I host the midi and you could try it when you have a bit of free time?
