I just found out that there is a version of MAME that emulates the 3dfx using hardware acceleration. The current version of MAME emulates via software. Have anyone seen this version? There's a video of it: Spoiler The video author says it's from a private release.
Cool. I sometimes play the PC version of Rush: The Rock with Glide on my Windows 98 PC (Voodoo 3-based). That game is a little buggy on the Voodoo 3 – usable, though. It also lacks the window reflections that the other versions have for some reason.
The latest version of MAME runs SF Rush pretty well! And there's a version with the emulated cpu overclocked (to run at about 60fps). It works with racing wheels and force feedback too. Best way to play if you don't have the arcade at home ;-)
Im pretty sure just about any mame game can be overclocked so far as ive tried some glitch like pulstar after i think 10% overclock the music stops playing. Its in the sliders option in the in game menu
I don't know if/why the recompile of MAME is needed for overclocking. Here's the original post http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=158489.0
