I was looking for some info on MAME software builds (Still using .128) and came across the recent use of HLSL shaders to help make emulation closer to the original thing. Some pages i've been reading: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=114949.0 http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12792&start=30 http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...LSL-Effects-The-way-Arcade-games-used-to-look! http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=255547 Some of the pictures look really impressive. So, any of you guys use this? Care to share configs / opinions?
eh im using the latest 0.152, check out pleasuredome.co.uk its a tracker with all this stuff on it, with latest chds and all...
Did you even try reading the topic? Personally, no - not using it (I don't use MAME at the moment either). But I looked at it when I was looking for hard- and software scanlines for my Cruis'n USA which is currently running a 720p monitor. It's pretty cool and I'm also pro-scanlines and color correction after seeing the difference it makes even for later games like my Cruis'n. I'll probably have more feedback once I have a MAME compatible PC (Lindbergh?) in my cabinet. Not really a fan of the heavy distortion most people seem to apply.
Yes, I did, was more trying to emphasis that stuff works better in the newer builds and how to update. Since most people don't know where to get info or the romsets. Also PD has TONS of peopple who know about shaders and stuff. I personally didn't grow up in the arcade era so even without effects its awesome to me hehe.
I tried it long time ago but I don't like much the bluring it causes, gets tired after some time. I gonna post my config later today, oh and some settings have a really big impact in performace.
