Marathon Gaming = Playing games to get to the end. I'm just glad I am actually getting games done, since I bought Super Metroid 2 days ago and beat it yesterday, and I just got to the last parts of Bioshock (After the plot twist, which means I have about 2-3 hours left on it). Trying to beat it for the bad end so I can start on Metroid Prime 3 tomorrow. Also, is it just me, or am I the only one that takes breaks after major areas? With Zelda, I tend to do a dungeon, and then save and quit as soon as I am done with it. With Bioshock, I do about 1 or 2 levels and then take a break. Sort of gives me time to think and such.
Bioshock is the first game I've beaten in months. I was really pleased with the story and especially the art direction. I couldn't do the "marathon" thing with it, though; I usually played for an hour or two and put it down.
Yeah, I started on it Tuesday and Wednesday and part of friday, but got burnt out and didn't pick it up until today. It's still pretty short, since I played it about 5 hours Tuesday, 3 hours Wednesday, 1 or 2 hours on Friday, and then about 3 hours today. Still pretty good when compared to other shooters, though. Also, Super Metroid only took 7 hours. Not bad, considering it was my first time and I got 88% of the items (All the energy tanks, 3 out of 4 of the reserve tanks, missed a couple of super missile and bomb upgrades, got all the suit upgrades, and missed about 10 of the Missile upgrades). By speed running and ending standards, its horrible, but I think I did pretty well.
Persona 3 is like a good book I can't put that shit down and the Character themes are stuck in my head
I have not done this in a LONG time. I remember doing this in the Genesis days. EarthWorm Jim I was able to beat in 30minutes. Beat Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles (together in the expansion port) in almost 4 hours, then my Genesis controllers stopped working. Haven't done this with PC games though, except for the Thief series.
Every so often I'll Marathon through both Halo campaigns on Legendary. I usually burn out around the 4th Level of Halo2. That's when it starts going down hill...as soon as you start playing as the arbiter I lose interest.
Just beat Bioshock EXACTLY at 12:00, oddly enough. Got the bad ending (Which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, if not a bit short). *SPOILERS* The last part was a bit...eh. The last level was pretty much a escort mission, while the final boss was odd (Think of the statues earlier in the game, that is pretty much the last boss). Also pretty easy compared to some of the other bosses (Granted, you do take less damage due to the Big Daddy suit you got). Also disappointed there was no new game+ where you kept your plasmid upgrades (Although it would make the game much easier). Otherwise, pretty good. The time it took to beat it was about average for me (A week), and I do plan on playing it at least one more time.
I'm so sick of FPS games, specially gory ones, the last one I played was Quake4 and didnt like it. I still have to beat the HL2 I started 2 years ago and left in ravelholm and start playing the episode 2 I downloaded quite a while. Is not that I lack the time, is just that I dont feel like playing those games, and quite honestly I havent played anything (as in any game) lately... And now you guys start talking about bioshock, I had enough in the Ars forum I go often and now the hype follows me to assembler. I may have to upgrade my machine to play Bioshock in mid/high quality (my current rig is around the minimum requirements level for that game) but on the other hand I will have to do that if I want to play Portal, Flashpoint 2 and Unreal2007 (or was it 2008?) during this holidays. Funny, when I made this PC a year and a half ago I said "this is the last fucking gaming PC I'll build" "next time I'll get a damn console!". Just when I think I'm Out, They Pull Me Back In:-(
We are like the gaming godfather, only we kill each other over Resident Evil 1.5 betas instead of stolen DVD players. Anywho, Bioshock is one of those games that has some gore, but it is never over the top like Quake 4 where everything was meat and death, but situational. The story, atmosphere, voice acting, writing, music and graphics all come together really well. The game does has its issues (A menu system for some of the items would have been nice, glitches, and lack of unlockables). However, the game is one of those that you can play over and get a completely new experience from. I would recommend getting it on the 360 if you can, though, since it just feels more at home on it. But yeah, I know what you mean. Quake 4 was pretty much nothing but "Get shiny gun, shoot shiny gun at meat monsters, kill stuff". Prey has potential, but was one of those games that once you play it, you don't want to play it again. Bioshock was a breath of fresh air, and is just as good as Half Life 2, in my opinion. Also, on a side note for those who played it: Was it me, or was the part of the game where the graphics filter changed made the game look better? The filter changed from a golden tinted filter similar to the color of things back in the 40s, but changed to a grey filter that reminded me of Gears of War. Seriously, it made the game look much better in general.
Yeah I would love to get the X360, but with the 65nm so close to launch it would be kinda dumb to get one right now, knowing it may crash any day. Plus I can get a powerful enough PC (as enough for those games I want to play) for the same money of a PS3... Prey, tell me about it! I played the demo and while at first I kinda liked the whole anti-gravity paths it just gets kinda boring after the novelty wears off. Anyways, I didnt quite get the godfather comment...
Anywho, i've been doing pretty good on Metroid Prime 3. I got it on Tuesday, and I am already pretty far *SPOILERS* I just got to the Pirate Planet, and from what people are telling me I am about 75% of the way through. Got about 8 or so energy tanks and 125 missiles (And about 3 of those ship missile upgrades that I have no idea what they are for). About 52 item pick-ups so far, with 9 hours into the game. What I plan to do is sweep the jungle and fire area of Bryyo one more time and then head to the Pirate Planet and continue the story. I should be done by Monday if I continue at this rate.
