got this one from mister postman today ... (actually he only delivered it ;-) ) http://stud4.tuwien.ac.at/~e9325367/ControllerBox.jpg anyone knows what that is ? the upper right says "Maple Bus Saturn Game Controller Box / Sega Enterprises, LTD. / CSPD#2 Div. Made in Japan" got 4 Saturn controller Ports on front and an SCSI connector on the back where it says "Maple Bus" which makes me want to connect it to the Katana Dev-Kits expansion port ... no idea what the 8 ports on top are so ... I am pretty sure its DC-Dev-parts, my theorie goes like this: before DC controllers have been manufactured, these little thingies where used to connect Saturn controllers instead of the DC controllers to try games seems to be just what I thought, some researching pulled up this: " TempesT: We understand you are working with a Dreamcast Development kit. Would you tell us a little about the kit. SB: We have had three revisions of dev-kit. Set 2 which was basically a Power-VR card for the PC and a set of libraries, ninja. All other stuff was emulated on the host PC. Set 4 was 40% speed Hardware with an early SH4, faster Power VR and full GD-ROM system capabilities on it. It used a maple bus converter to allow us to use conventional Saturn game pads. Set 5 is the 100% complete dev-kit with proper joy ports etc. "
It's the Saturn -> Maple bus converter which is used by my Katana Set 4 (which I'm missing) which was used to connect the Saturn 3D controller. It is unlikely it will work on anything other than a Set 4. I've not dug out my Set4 for some time but I believe it has a dedicated port for this. How much did you pay for it? Is it for sale? If not, want a Set 4?
