A bunch of scans from nintendo power. Those screenshots look way better than the old ones for sure. Anyway, you can read that the game will have 80+ levels (!), that's what i was waiting for! Damn, i need a DS, but i need to wait for the lite. :banghead:
I just don't know about this whole giant Mario thing. I'd much rather have a new 2D Mario game in the vein of SMB3/SMW but with a different graphical style. I liked what they did with Yoshi's Island and that combined with the scale of Super Mario World (or even bigger) would be awesome. Keeping the gameplay pure is important.
wow. this looks sweet. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy this thought the big mario makes me think of this flash movie: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/imario.php
that gave me a creepy bad trip man! anyway, my only fear is, as taucias said, that the gameplay may not be as pure as the old marios. I just hope they didnt added too much, and that the giant thing replace the invicibility star, or something.
Mario looks like shit -- polygon based in a 2D game? Complete ass. I'm not a graphics whore though, and will still enjoy the game I'm sure, but the fact is, they took the cheap way out w/ really bad 3D models.
I love to play this mario game in big tv i need to wait for Revolution or pc emulator to play in big tv
It's just that they are cheaper to make. Design the model, throw in the physics, and it's done. For sprites, you have to hand draw every frame of animation. Depending on how many actions there are, there could be hundreds of drawings for Mario alone. There just aren't nearly as many 2D tools as there are 3D, AFAIK.
one of the only times I find myself dissagreeing with you. the game is in the vein of 2D mario but appears to be the spiritual successor to the N64 version, in looks atleast. and from what I can see it looks quite a bit more sophisticated than that game. I for one would absolutely love to see a Mario game where everything is animated meticulously well (a spiritual successor to the Super Famicom version if you will), but I find this approach interesting nontheless. I for one am a little tired of 2D games that don't push the boundries of animation. sorry about the pretentious tone of this post, but I hope I explained myself clearly (I'm knackered, I'm not sure if I'm making sense).
I haven't enjoyed a 2D game in a good while now. The game looks promising, though I have to see on release date...
I think it looks good, but not as good as 'Super Mario World', the game I feel it's trying to be the sequel to (I never felt 'Yoshis Island' was a real sequel). The 3D model of Mario needs work also, mostly to make sure it doesn't look like the body segments are seperate (notice the head detatching when he's swimming).
Yes, yes: sprites, yeah; polygons, boo! We're all teh h@ardc0r3 gamer'z here, no need to posture. Anyone who doesn't think this game looks amazing is taking a huge shit. It looks way the fuck better than Mario 64, I think it even looks better than Super Mario World. Anyone with any taste in gaming has been waiting 10 years for precisely this. I shudder to think how many DSs this game will sell. One, for sure. ...word is bondage...
Someone get me a newspaper. Very few could make polygons on the DS look amazing... and I doubt anyone could make them look better than high detailed sprites.
Remember that it will be on a 256x192 LCD screen and also that you'll actually be playing it, not just staring at stills. ...word is bondage...
I saw thies yesterday and for some reason I felt the need to play mario64 again. I think most of it had to do with seeing characters from mario64.
I really can't wait for this game. I enjoyed most of the Mario series & I really liked Mario Sunshine. So a good old return to 2D will be great as long as the level design is solid.
I played a beta version and it was really nice. That "i don't like polygons in 2d-games" talk is stupid. You all didn't enjoy Radiant Silvergun ?
