Love the SED:U but do you think they'll ever be support for these elusive games?

No as they use special chips that cannot be added to the everdrive like the DSP1 was.

There is hope though. Ikari_01 (the guy that created SuperCIC) has been working on a project called SD2SNES. If looks like that it will have the capability to play just about anything. (not for sure on specific chips though since he has yet to specify) So it really would be our best hope for playing these games on flash carts in the future.

To be realistic, each chip would have to be cloned. It doesn't seem likely anyone is going to do that. Cloning DSP and maybe Cx4 (MMX2&3) probably could be done but things like Super FX, SA-1, and on are less likely.

Speaking of the DSP1, I bought a SED without one, is it just a case of unsoldering one from Pilotwings for example and soldering it onto the SED board and it will work?

Yes. At least, it was with my PowerPak, where I've been using a PAL Mario Kart donor DSP-1 with various NTSC ROMs and it's been fine. Set aside a reasonable amount of time to do it in as it's a somewhat fiddly process and you wouldn't want to rush it.

I've heard depending on your SED board revision you also need to do a few more things like drill holes to mount the Clock Crystal from a DSP1 game too. I think I heard the Tototek T-Connector adapter can be used to add DSP1 support as well.

I believe the new SED you just need to DSP chip, crystal and 74HC04 from the donor cart as there are all the correct points on the board to solder it on.
The old version SED you need the DSP chip, crystal and buy a smaller 74HC04 chip.

rev1.3 requires the drilling, rev1.4 does not

If you have a revision thats earlier than 1.3 then its not possible to add DSP-1 chip.

Check in toolbox > device info to see your PCB revision,

I have a 1.4, but after seeing the dsp games list i think i will just buy mario kart as it is the only one from that lot i want and i was intending on buying that anyway (as i do with all the games i really like).

I also have all (just 2 - Mario Kart and Pilotwings) games with DSP so plain everdrive is all I need.

Do you mean all you need/care about? Because there are alot more DSP1 games than people realize. But for most they can only name those two.

Well the list of dsp games i have seen has nothing else i think wow i wanna play that, as for the rest i can try them on zsnes to see if any investment is worthwhile to me. Bought Mario Kart today for £5.60 quite pleased with that price for cart only :)

Yes, exactly. Other DSP games either are on other platforms (Dungeon Master, Top Gear, Ballz 3D)or I don't like them so much to have DSP installed on everdrive.

I don't think the super everdrive is compatible with DSP-2/3/4 (contained respectively in Dungeon Master/Sd Gundam GX/Top Gear 3000).

Probably only with DSP1 and it's revision (A and B) since other DSP's have different purpose.

Krikzz may be able to answer but I don't think he has those game to try...

True, I simply post games that using DSP chips but I forgot that only DSP1 is supported.

Probably does not make sense beacuse just per chip only one game using it.

I might buy a T-connector from tototek one day or another, if I buy one, I'll tell you the results on those games.
