It's coming out this summer and there's a demo available on US PSN this Thursday. Lots more information on upscaling, widescreen, online, etc over on the Capcom Unity Blog.
The best part about this is I recently sold my Xbox copy of MvC2 for more that I bought it for
This makes me feel ALOT less bad about trading in mvc2 on dreamcast for mario sunshine, hell this version is even better, its the dc version with added touches, splendid. I'm thinking the value would drop too for the original, but then again alien soldier was on sega ages 2500: gunstar collection and wii virtual console and the original still demands high prices.
I had a feeling Marvel VS Capcom 2 was on the way for PSN and XBLA when various Japanese news pages reported on a site called http://www.tu4ar.com last week. While it seemed a long shot at the time, I recall someone from within Capcom saying they'd finally come to an agreement over the Marvel license. On top of this, TU4AR could easily be seen as a thinly-veiled reference to a lyric in the game's select menu music. Now it seems this is the case, though I'm crossing my fingers we get an option this time to use custom soundtracks - Capcom probably has no idea just how many unofficial remixes of this one I've download for my Dreamcast... actually, it's probably best I don't mention that here!
tu4ar was NOT thinly vieled. It was on partnernet, the damn achievement list was leaked out, and "japanese news sites?" fucking CAPCOM.COM and CAPCOM-UNITY.COM had links to the site. Ping the address and it was the same IP as capcom.com And Jamtex...you're silly. Your brain cannot understand ROM infinte, AHVB, Pixie rushdowns, and DDoom AAs. I'm way way excited about this game...I'm more excited about this game than I was for Street Fighter 4 (which to be fiar, I wasn't really looking forward to that much) capcom is fully aware of the hatred for the music, you CAN use custom soundtracks most people have never actually seen this game played like a science - every single move carefully done but at such a ridiculous pace. The online playerbase is going to DROP after about a month, I can imagine the ragequitters that'll happen just because they get caught in an infinite combo. To the player that has no idea how to counter anything in this game, Marvel has so much "CHEAP BS" than ANY other game. It's going to be fun demolishing those ken/ryu/akuma shoto teams for that first month xD
Any chance that Capcom is going to release this on a disk? I'm still not satisfied with the unresolved ownership problems that go with downloads. Capcom doesn't have the record that Namco has of putting XBLA games on traditional media, but I hope they see fit to start with this title.
Pisses me off when people actually bought this for PS2 for fuckload amounts of money. Compared to the Xbox and DC ones it was so fucking bad looking. Xbox one was kind of lame too. Really glad I sold it for as much as I did, it bought me Burning Rangers and some of my 360. I'll probably buy it on XBLA, I think it'd be sweet on there, and you can do custom soundtracks for any game so....yeah. Sweet, a digital distrubuted game that makes me glad I dumped off my old one! I still have the DC one laying around too. Bet I'll like it way more on here with my stick and whatnot.
too bad both the DS3 and 360 controller suck at 2D fighters of this kind, Street Fighter IV has taught me. At least the DC had a decent official stick that matched the drapes.
I'd say it's actually worth the effort of building a custom stick for all the fighters on the 360/PS3. That's why I'm doing it. No more excuses.
I thought it was Groundhogs Day when I first found out about this. I wonder if the DC version is still worth a lot now?
Marvel has given a release date of 29th June but this is subject to change. Considering that's a Monday, it seems likely we'll see this on the 1st and 2nd of July, if not the week before.
the DC sticks still didn't perform 100% it didn't use real arcade parts. But throw some sanwa parts in there and it's niiiiice.
