Here are the files (600kb) off the CD (yes wasted a whole cd for 600kb they did)

This should work with almost all card that use the 6 pin cable.

Nexus is probably the clone of the gameshark device

The Gameshark (or Action Replay) was nothing more than a 'regular' pre-fromatted card which was only accessible through the bootdisc. I had one of these and there's no cable to connect to PC whatsoever. Correct me if I'm wrong on the last part, but I doubt it.

Nexus cards (afaik the only clones of the official DC 4-page VMU) do not hold codes of any kind.
The actual savecodes which you added later on for the GS or AR would be saved on that GS/AR card (or any other card you selected for that matter).

Also, the AR disc would not boot without the designated card, the GS disc did, so it was hacked not soon after.

I have a Nexus 4x and a GameShark somewhere, though I've long since lost the cable for the Nexus card. Anyone know of a schematic to wire up your own cables?

    EDIT:

Not sure Marcus would appreciate a hotlink.

This isn't for a gameshark, it's for massive memory card. It's a hard to find
    card as it's 1600 blocks!

It's you who brought up the GS issue...

But anyways, I've never heard of this memcard before
I only know of the Nexus 4MB 'regular' version which equals 800 blocks and the Nexus 16MB 'extended' version which equals 3200 blocks (double the capacity you mentioned).

This is still available through the Hong Kong shop apparently, and if I'm not mistaking, they're the same manufacturers of the Sega Saturn Action Replay Pro and Plus. I know the larger memcards actually had consistency issues (had it even happen to a 4 MB version, which I could return for a good one). The 4MB doesn't have a page display as pictured below, only a led. Also, the 4MB has a common shape, while the 16MB version actually looks like the GS, yes, funny you did mention that, but it ends with the cosmetics.

@ Ape: looking at their site, they still offer such a cable for only $2

Massive Memory Card Plus, is the actual name. I saw a video on youtube. So maybe that is what ASSEMbler is talking about. Or else, I am talking out of my ass.

    Neat.

From what I recall the 4x and 8x models were 100% stable, still have my PSO, Shenmue saves on one bank of my 4x with one bank formatted entirely for Bleem!. The 16x cards were rumored to be unstable for whatever reason.

well, often the 'super big memory card!' units would cheat by doing on the fly compression / decompression of data, and would wind up crapping out in the process of doing that at some point and take your saves down with it
