Some of the documentation for this system could be invaluble for those of us, like me, working on emulating and developing for these systems. Is there any chance of just a couple of scans of specific pages? I can even list the page numbers. While I would love to see all this documentation scanned, could we just see pictures of the indexes/table of contents for each document, and and get the titles of the documents that are included.

Here are the things it would be good to get scanned from the manuals, if you have them:
From "MegaCD Hardware Manual: The Hardware":
-Page 4, "Outline Of Mega-CD Hardware".
-Page 45, section 3-8, special case for rotation scaling.

Apart from these scans, just getting scans, or even pictures just like you took, of the table of contents of the documents and title pages of the documents, that would be absolutely fantastic. If either you could do this Dano2k0, or at least pass on the request to the person you sold it to. I know this is a nice curiosity for collectors, but the documentation could actually very useful from a practical point of view to a lot of other people.

I've seen lot's of comments here on the Documentation. I have to say that one of the main reasons I purchased this lot was to see the documentation. I've asked a few friends about preserving this sort of thing and have got various repsonses. Perhaps I'll start a new thread to ask a few questions.

Awesome, it's great to hear you're open to preserving and sharing this stuff. Emulation is important to the preservation of this system, since in another few decades there won't be many left working, and without documentation, emulation usually doesn't get very far. The MegaCD has always been the worst documented system.

From what I can tell of the pictures that have been posted, the main folder holds at least two manuals which have never been scanned, and which I've never heard of or seen before, namely the "Sega-CD Software Standards" and "Mega-CD User Interface" manuals. If you're going to scan stuff in, those are probably the place to start. Additionally, the "Mega-CD Hardware Manual" you have would be very good to scan in its entirety. The only scans we have of that currently are low-resolution scans of a faxed version, which as you can imagine is virtually unreadable in places, especially in parts that have shading. At the very least, the two missing pages of that manual which I listed above would be fantastic to see, especially page 45. I can see there's a manual in the back there related to the Sanyo LC8951 CD controller. We recently obtained a manual for this chip, but I'm interested if you have another version of it, or more complete documentation on it, so it would be good to see the first few pages just to determine what it is, since information on this chip is absolutely vital for emulation. I can see there's also other stuff in the back of that folder I can't make out.

Obviously it'd be great to get all the documentation scanned in the interests of preservation. I can tell you what's of a technical interest though, and what stuff we're currently missing. I'd love to simply hear an inventory of what's in there.

+1 about the documentation. I wish you luck in preservation efforts! The current documentation is .. lacking.

Beautiful development package. The buyer should be very happy to acquire this.

I remember configuring ISA, VLBUS cards etc. in the 90's when you had to manually set the DMA and IRQ via dip switches on all of you expansion cards.

Ahhhh the days before integrated motherboards and PNP ;-) LOL

Out of interest, what's this and why does it plug into the pad socket?

It's probably some sort of loop-back device. If you remove the cap on the back, you'll probably find it's wired to assert some kind of special input, IE, holding down all 4 directions on the D-pad at once. Unless the actual SegaCD bios in this unit is something special (which it almost certainly isn't, I have one of these units myself, minus the interface cards and doco, and it's a standard bios), it's probably not really for anything in particular, purely another tool for the developers to use when writing their own code. You could for example have a special debug mode implemented in your code, where this device acts as a "magic key" to enable it if it is detected in the second controller port.

Just to follow up on some of this documentation. I'm going to work on scanning it but am taking my time. I did however find that the Sega CD documentation has all ready been scanned for those interested. I found it here. Under Mega Drive Related Documentation. The site also has a lot of Saturn Documentation.

EDIT: Upon furthure inspection it looks like my binder has a few extra sections and seems to be missing one that was scanned.
