    Hi There,

my tool is working now :) YEAHHH :)

But i have a problem. I wanted to test some of my games.. and i read that the TOOL can play Master Disc Patched Games...

so i maked an ISO from Persona 3 (PAL) with Alcohol 120% then i try to Patch it with the Master Disc Patcher

But when i open the ISO the following error occurs:

    ---------------------------
    DiscPatcher
    ---------------------------
Error searching for exe filename in system.cnf!
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

    Can somebody help here?

    Regards
    Bjoern

    Solution-
Don't use Master Disc Patcher unless it works immediately- I've had the damn thing create a pile of useless processes which never complete, etc... if it works, it'll work the first time.

If it doesn't- Use Sony's CD/DVD gen to build a working image- this requires some effort if your burner and ASPI layer aren't EXACTLY what it's expecting, but there's tutorials out there on the web as to this.

I had this issue when attempting to play Ibara on my old test, while numerous other games worked fine with MDP.

Lesson: MDP is a hack, a very convenient hack, but a hack nonetheless, and it's not ALWAYS perfect.

to be perfectly honest, i used iml2iso with moderate success- in the end, I pulled out a spare supported dvd-rw drive (check the cd/dvd generator docs)

I'm unfamiliar with apache, but assumed it was the same as iml2iso.

just copying the masterdisc sector with an hex editor is way easier and takes a few seconds to be done. This is what I do when the masterdisc patcher fails on me.

you need an hex editor such as winhex. The masterdisc sector is located at offset 0x7000 on masterdisc images. The sector contains the title id of the game so you might want to change that to one that matches whatever iso you wish to patch (though I do not think that really matters)

The masterdisc sector being what makes the playstation 2 debugging station recognise a disc as a masterdisc, once it is in your iso and the disc is burned it will just work fine in any ps2 test consoles or even in playstation3 debugging stations (providing they are DECHA00A/DECHA00J models)

I'm having the same problem trying to patch both Ibara and Shadow of the Colossus. I've tried using the method Bjoern posted but it didn't work for me in the end. Maybe its cause I got 3 errors instead of 2 with the 3rd error being it can't initialize(doubt thats a problem). I then looked up how to do it with a hex editor but there are no guides that show step by step and mathieulh's post is pretty lackluster on the details/steps. Last I tried using CD/DVD Gen 2.0 which like I said I get 3 errors after I hit "Rec". Below are the list of steps that I take so maybe someone can spot where I'm doing something wrong.

1.) Copy files from disc to the right side of CD/DVD Gen which are as follows in order from top to bottom:
    -MODULES
    -MODULES 2
    -GAMECORE.XFF
    -IOPRP300.IMG
    -KERNEL.XFF
    -MANAGER.XFF
    -NICO.DAT
    -SCUS_974.72
    -SG2IOPM1.IRX
    -STARTUP.XFF
    -SYSTEM.CNF
2.)I then click on the volume tab and type SCUS in the first box and 97472 in the 2nd box (Shadow of Colossus)
3.) Put Playstation as the Publisher(since this is what Bjoern types in his method)
4.) Change the liscense area to America.
5.) Label it as SOTC and save it as an .iml file.
6.) I then hit "Rec". Get 3 errors which are as follows:
1st - SCSI host adapter is not avaiable
2nd - SCSI host adapter is not available
    3rd - Initialization Failed
7.) The CD/DVD-ROM Recording box then pops up and I then import my .iml file to my C drive. I wait until it finishes, click ok on the box that pops up and quit the program.
8.) I then merge SOTC.000 and SOTC.001 through my Command Screen using the command COPY/B SOTC.000 + SOTC.001 SOTC.ISO. I wait until the merge is complete and attempt to burn with Alcohol 120%. I pop it into my PS2 Test and try to convert it into my HDD and an message says "bad disc"

Anything out of these steps I'm doing wrong? Maybe someone can post a better method to master disc my discs or just correct me in what I'm doing wrong. Pretty much a novice a little only thing I've done similiar to this is convert all my Dreamcast games to selfboot but thats about it. Any help is appreciated thanks.

    Hi itsmattxp

you have to install WinASPI for XP...

Then you become only 2 errors... funny.. i got my US Shadow of the Colossus 2 days ago and ripped it like the method i posted and it works fine on my JAP TOOL

So you have to install WinASPI for XP.. (only if you have XP.. if you have VISTA you have to install XP on a partition)

Did you extract the Game with DVD Decrpyter into a ISO File and then extract the files with Isobuster? If not.. do it :)

What TEST PS2 do you have? A japanese? Eventually its Region locked? cause i know that Japanese PS2 TOOL and also Japanese PS1 Debug Kits are region locked.. so you can eventually try JAP Region....

Not sure what type I have but I've gotten it done now. Apparently I installed it wrong so I just looked up a guide and got it done.

Edit: Do you have to master disc patch PSX games for them to play on PS1 Debugs more specifically green systems.
