Hi! So i have a couple of mastersystem 2s that i have been meaning to RGB mod. After reading for some time i decided on trying the way you do it on PC-Engine but with a 9-pin DIN in a metal housing instead of the 8pin. Sync on Composite gave me terrible jailbars, now im trying sync on luma. Looks butifull, but the sync was weak and unstable. Added a 220uf cap and a 75 ohm to the line. Works, but takes 5 secounds befor its stable. I also added a 10uf on the audio, it cleard up a lot of the humn. Best thing is, i can use pre made cables for the Megadrive/genesis 2! EDIT:"Im thinking about adding a transistor to the luma line to strengthen the signal. Wath do you think?(also, i am going to trim the leads of the components, when im done)" So i ended up removing the 220uf cap on the sync an i added a BC517 (wath small NPN i had). The collector i stuck down the whole marked one for the RF module cause its 5v. The Base to luma pin on the CXA1145p and emitor to a 75ohm and then to video. Pefect picture!!
Well the c-sync signal is also weak. It could possibly be amplified the same way. But my TV generally likes sync on luma better. C-sync sometimes causes a horisontal shift for me. But i guess i could try just for the heck of it. Edit: tried c-sync. It works fine to. Picture is crystal clear as is sync on luma. Il keep one on luma and one on c-sync and il try to compare more. The main thing for me tho is beeing able to use pre made cables, and not having to drill the chassi.
