A little random - but I recently ordered a couple of old Dreamcasts off ebay for spares/repairs. This one came today and it has a McDonalds metallic sticker on it? [/IMG] Has anyone ever seen this before? I can't seem to find anything else different on it externally - I'm thinking this may have been from a kiosk or something but can't remember there being anything like this in the UK in McDonalds. It came with a Sonic adventure disc in which just looks to be a normal PAL game.
I guess Mc Donalds had at some point Dreamcast kiosk's, and that they marked the console inside themselves with this serial sticker. Nice discovery btw!
I know in the US at some restaurants, they have game consoles in kiosks. I've seen pictures of Nintendo 64s and PS2s in the kiosks. As is hypothesized earlier in the thread, it makes sense they might have done the same thing with the dreamcast at certain locations.
That's pretty interesting. I didn't realize McDonalds ever had consoles out for play at their stores.
The first place I ever played Ristar was on a Sega Genesis in a Burger King. Knew of a couple fast food joints that had consoles loaded into cabinets around LA when I was growing up, always was weird to see.
McDonald's definitely had Dreamcasts in kiosks near the play area back then, though they weren't around for long as the XBOX and PS2 kiosks were more popular.
There aren't any McDonald's with game systems by me, but I was at one by a friend's house in St. Louis and they definitely still had Nintendo stuff out in 2009. They also had up a sweet display of all the past toys, including the Mario 3 ones.
I can't imagined how many little kids fight over to play on Console kiosk, then parents blame onto other parents and then shit goes on... Controller buttons surely get jammed too.
What is funny is that some locations still have the signs up. The sign is partially covered by a stoplight though https://plus.google.com/118010734234808895316/about?gl=us&hl=en
Better example https://plus.google.com/110377014185345841391/about La seems to have a lot of these signs still up. I wonder if they just threw away the kiosks or wether they sold them.
Ah, I remember seeing PS2s and Dreamcasts with those stickers!!!!! They are from Ronald McDonald House Charities, when I was in school, I volunteered there and when patients were interested in playing a game, one of my duties was helping them set them up!!!!! It was so nice to see these poor kids who have and were going through so much... happy and enjoying themselves!!!!! The stickers were done to catalog everything to make sure nothing was missing, etc.
