Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and have a very ambitious idea so I thought I would ask here as everyone seems nice and willing to help. Basically I wanna know how to access the audio in the console and then see if there was a way of assigning MIDI to it, which you could control using a keyboard. I have seen some guy on YouTube who has done this but he hasn't updated the project in like 9 years! I'm planning of designing my own 16 bit workstation focused around the Mega Drive as it's my favorite childhood console.

Literally any help like schematics, or advice you offer me would be massively appreciated and I would be in your debt!

Also on a side note, if there are any chiptune musicians or Glitch/IDM music producers looking to collaborate that would be great fun, and I would love to hear anyone's musical material or any weird designs.

Thank you for your time :)

I have no idea, personally, but a link to the YouTube video that you mentioned would likely help the people who COULD help you.

I'd recommend going for a Mega Drive 1 if you're going to use the audio from the thing, though, since it has better audio quality, at least without a somewhat in-depth mod (I believe the lower quality stems from the chip they used, if I remember correctly).

There are a whole bunch of schematics, data sheets and other reference materials here, although I'm not sure how helpful they'll be to you: http://emu-docs.org/?page=Genesis
