To begin this post I will say I am a total Everdrive noob, since I got this unit just last weekend. I been trying to NO END to make the Megakey functionality of the Everdrive (board revision 2.4) work and I am about to hit my head in teh wall. I have a VA2 revision japanese Megadrive, with no modifications in it except A/V connectors. I got Everdrive not only for the convenience of having it all in one SD card and being able to play FM music, but also because it was advertised that it would play games from ANY region on ANY Genesis/Megadrive. Well, it isn't doing it. I keep getting messages saying that my machine is not suppoerted, on any game that is not marked as (U) or (J) (and combinations thereof) Am I doing something wrong or does my board need replacement? I have updated the OS of the board to the latest version, too, just to see if it would fix it, but not. I don't want to have to use a Megakey in combination with the Everdrive. I don't even know if that would work at all! Please help. :banghead:
Region Free IS enabled, but the Megakey option says OFF. Now , why is this, and how do I change it? Thank you.
Oh guess what: I got sold a 2.3 revision as a 2.4 So this is why it isn't working. I'm really, really pissed off now, I bought it only after it got Megakey functionality and I got owned
im having the same problem, i would have started a new thread but it would have been the exact same title. heres the conditions of my problem: region free: ON megakey: OFF i am using the usa model 1 genesis that says "high definition graphics" (32x is NOT connected). i also have an x'eye and a nomad handy that both give the same results. the board says REV 2.4 the weird thing is that region switching hasnt been a problem until now, jap games used to load up fine, so did the jap mega cd bios, but now i get an error message. i will probably install a region switch as a work around, but i would like to get my megakey working again if possible.
Some games besides region detection uses PAL.NTSC detection like Speedy Gonzales or Pirates Gold. The only way is add NTSC/PAL selector. But even if you do this you don't 100% solution. For example Speedy Gonzales with have terrible slowdowns in NTSC mode but in PAL works perfectly. Other game is Asterix and Obelix - switching game from PAL to NTSC causes graphics artefacts, sometimes really bad.
after a little messing around i discovered that if i put my system into jap mode the mega key functionality is back on, but if i switch back to us mode then it is off. problem solved i guess
Hi Same thing is happening to me Everdrive firmware 13 / os 23 Region Free: ON but megakey shows as OFF i even tried to upgrade to OS 28 but megakey show as OFF anyway im using a PAL mega drive without 32x or any mod
well actually im not able to tell right now because the board is inside a game shell and i don't have the tool to open it. but on toolbox > about it says assembly date 30.03.2011, does this help?
I think only KRIKzz can tell you whether or not you have a cart revision with the Megakey included or not.
