    Hiya that new message board is nice... time to register! :smt023

    Well, I have a question regarding the layout of the MD I "Mainboard"...
    [IMG]

    As you can tell from the pic above, the lower cable leads towards the red LED... the pin is labeled "CN9". However there are 2 contacts above (without any pin) labeled the same... does anybody know if it is possible to use them, e.g. for the LED if the original one is damaged? Maybe someone tried this before... just curious before I start wasting the MD for nothing :smt033

    BTW: This pin is available on both PAL and J-NTSC version...

    THX!

    Dunno, you can easily use a multimeter to find out though. If somehow (??) the bottom one is not useable you can find 2.5/3/5 or whatever V the old pads give off elsewhere on the board and tap those.

    @Kyuusaku:
    Thx, I'll probably work on the pins this weekend to figure out if they are any use... Well, just wondering why those pins "are" there (what for?) having the same (CN9) description...

    I remember once reading a website offering a lot of technical stuff (how to multinorm a wondermega and mega-ld even...), but lost that link... anyone knows?

    Regards,

    Mr. Pinepot

    Oh so you think something was removed :) If that was the case, I have no clue what they could be fore. Perhaps they aren't even for something, just bridging the parts/solder side.

    Thx, that's the link... :smt023

    Kyuusaku, I guess you are right... I dunno if it'll work but I hope to get the LED working on the upper contacts (using solder)... :)

    I still don't get what you're trying to do at all. If you want a second LED, you can just tap the bottom pads. If I were you and I just had to put a LED on that connector, I'd follow the traces to see where they originated. You might be doing something you shouldn't :)

    Well, actually I spot those pins by chance looking at some pics I recently made of the MD. So I came to think what's the use... and wonder if I can use them for something (LED, ChipLED, fan... :smt040 - just for the fun of it). Unfortunately I cannot get hold of the MD before the weekend so I spent some time thinking about the layout and possible mods...
    IF I do not fail miserably I'll post some pics then... 'been a while since I used solder :smt033
