I got this through the post today, and it's the first time I've ever come across this variation in all my years of MD collecting, all the other PAL copies I've seen have always been the blue box versions. It's definitely genuine, everything looks and feels right.

Can anyone spread any light on this or is this the first known copy?

Wow, I've never seen that either. Could it be the Australian version?

All the copies I've seen for sale in Oz are the Blue case releases with the G rating sticker on them. It came from Sweden, but the only variations of interest I've ever seen in Sweden are the rental cases.

Are you sure it's not just a repro? (No manual?) Have you looked inside the cart?

    Ronald McDonald is still terrifying.

An MD collector friend over at NTSC-UK has confirmed that he has seen this variation before and that it is believed to be a Swedish variant (unproven, but very likely as that is where this one has been purchased from).

I'll add a scan to Guardiana as soon as I fix my scanner, that site has been invaluable to me over the years. Part number is 670-4068-50 on the box 670-4067-50 on the cart.

I haven't opened the cart yet, but I can already tell it's not a repro. I've been collecting MD games for nearly 20 years now and can tell the difference between repro/pirate inserts and the real deal. The cart has the wear and tear you would expect from a well used cart of this age, both plastic and sticker parts have matching scratches. Plus why would anyone go to the bother of creating a different insert for their repro (including all of the McD's copyright's, etc) when there are scans of the real insert available online. It's not even a rare/valuable/particularly sought after game. I bought it for less than it would cost to reproduce it...

EDIT: A bit of searching has turned up a cart only copy on Tradera so it looks like a dead cert that this is a Swedish release. Link:

    very interesting find.
some games have a blue-label and old label version, some of them depending on the region so this does not surprise me but this is the first time I ever see this variant :=)
