I've already tried mythbuntu and didn't particularly care for it. I'm currently running xp pro an i'm looking for a free solution that doesn't require me to buy vista home premium or the like. If need be I'll probably spring for beyond tv but if any one else has any suggestions i'm all ears. thanks.
Thanks for the great suggestion, so far its working pretty good; I'll have to wait and see though how it likes my new tuner card once its finally mailed. The plugins make it better than windows media center i would say.
What kind of tuner card are you getting?? I was thinking of just using my PC for watching TV using a tuner card but i'm not sure how well they will work for reception where i live since i can only get a good signal from 1 of 3 devices i have for watching TV.
I'm getting 2 pinnacle pctv hd cards. ( http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSi...TV+Digital+PVR+(DVB-S_DVB-T)/PCTV+HD+Card.htm ) Got them off of woot.com for ~$45; from what I've heard the default software blows but the hardware is decent; it can receive clear qam. My intention is to either put them both in the same pc, or if that doesn't work put one in my regular rig. The last crappy tuner I had was ~4 years ago and was usb 1.1, I'm expecting this to be quite better.
