After updating to 9328 (I backed up everything), everything seemed to be fine, but when I went to play a divx or mp4 video file, it didn't work. I manually uploaded the container file with the media update to the proper place (this was the one that was working with the older 7978), but when I try to play a non-wmv media file, it deletes the container file with the update, and says it must download the update, which fails. There are no connection problems with PN, so why would this happen? Anybody know of a fix, or if this media update is down from PN for whatever reason? About to pull my hair out here. :banghead:
I could have sworn that I was able to download it from PN with the older kernel, I never had to build it. I know how to build it, I will just have to find out how to get the retail update. Thanks for the help.
I really hate asking, but everyone that has anything 360 related has to act all secret and elite, but if anyone wants to be a saint and get me a copy of the newest media update, retail or otherwise, I'd appreciate it. Thank you in advance! P.S. I really miss the friendliness and sharing with the orignal Xbox, which helped promote advances with it, unlike the 360, which everyone has to feel like they are elite and special with what they have.
Well thanks, but I still can't do it now, because the XLAST version I have is too old to work with the files. Thanks for trying, I guess it's back to downgrading the xbox. It iritates me to have something so expensive that I can't update. I never imagined that the 360 scene would keep everything hidden and unavailable to others. It's a sad state of affairs, and the reason nothing will ever get accomplished on the 360. I do appreciate Patriot's help, at least he tried, it's not his fault I can't make the package, maybe in a few more years I can update my XDK too. :banghead:
No offense, but people here first off, don't support Piracy, or Warez on this site. That's against the rules.. Second, if somebody did something on their own, their entitled to their say in what happens to what they did. I could come up with a lot more points, but I'm sure you get the point. Sorry you couldn't get it going, better luck next time.
I figured out the lib versions of the three xex files were not compatible, because changing the version numbers in the xex files made it make a content package, but of course that didn't work. I believe that maybe container file I got is not right or the newest version that I need. I also tried updating the aac.xex with a xexp file I had for aac.xex and the patch was the correct patch and it patched ok, but that still wouldn't work. I believe maybe the two codec files need a patch too. I am not a total idiot, just can't seem to find the correct files needed with this kernel. :banghead:
I hardly think a media update is piracy, it's not a game for christ sakes. Don't worry, I will figure it out eventually. I don't think I need a newer XDK afterall, but that is for sure something I would never ask for publicly. Back to the drawing board.
It doesn't matter if it's not a game. It is copyrighted, and compiled with official SDK tools. It is illegal. Why do you think things like XBMC were never allowed to be posted, and everyone always said, "Get them from the 'usual places'." It is a small file, it isn't a game, but it still would be illegal to distribute copyrighted content like that. But like I said, good luck.
Yes you are right, I am just getting frustrated. The irony is that anybody can easily find any full game that is about 6GB online, but it's near impossible to find about a 4MB file you want. It's crazy.
Yeah, I can see why you're upset. Anyways don't you just have a retail to run this video stuff on? I mean why even run it on a dev? Just to make things easier?
Maybe it's the only box he has, and he just wants too, it's understandable that he would want to watch an xvid even though I can't see why he would on a kit instead of a retail, but to each his own.
If you went on a business trip, and the only thing you had to unwind at the end of the day was to either watch movies or play video games, would you want to take 50 different things with you, or 2 things with you, to get the same amount of enjoyment? I really shouldn't have to go into details of my life why I want this, but it's basically a convenience thing atm. ;-)
Also, I forgot to mention, I need the kit with me, so I can continue working on the project I am working on. Yes, I do have a reason I have the kit, and regardless of the many roadblocks I have hit, I am progessing on my project nicely and I hope it is worth my efforts on it.
Sorry to bump the topic, but the Media Update works if you patch the xex's in the package file to devkit.
You won't be able to rebuild it with xlast into the proper package though, it'll throw some lame-o errors about the codec xex's ;o. -Doom
