This is a new game in development designed by Will Wright. The game will be unveiled in more detail at this years GDC. From watching the video. It looks like this is another type of "sim" game. However, what is different is that this game incorporates evolution. You start with one single cell creature and ultimately evolve into an advance creature traveling thru space or something totally different, depending on how you choose to evolve.

I find it pretty innovative and probably the first game ever that is that adaptive to the user from what the video shows. It incorporates all genres (except first-person-shooters) into a single package. This is a game for the RTS fans, simulation fans and any gamer that likes to have a lot of control in all aspects of the avatar.

Wow, I've never played an RTS before, but this looks awesome. I wonder if you can buy clothes / armor for your creatures, too?

I hope my PC can handle this one, because Im very interested in it.

I like the Sim Earth + Populous + Genesis Project composition. But seriously, who the hell is going to have enough time to play this? I think that was the problem with the original Sim Earth; it just took too long to get things to do anything.

I've heard of Spore several times, but I didn't realize just how far the games concept was being pushed. First game for PCs in years that I think ill be buying when it first comes out.

I hope that Will Wright and his team don't pull a Lionhead on us.

Atm though this game seems awesome.

The concept is cool. It sort of reminds me of that C64 / Colecovision game, back in the day (I had it on C64, actually) called "Evolution". It's a lot like this one, actually.

So it gives me some nostalgia to see this new game, because it reminds me a lot of the one I played when I was a kid.

Will Wright isn't as egocentric as Peter Molyneux is so I doubt Will, will...

Im waiting this game for ages!

For those who missed the concept, you start as a microbe, and you evolve and evolve, and it ends you conquer the universe. The thing is, This is not an RTS. Well, It is, and it is not. You start in a 2d side scroller, where you try to get bigger and avoid enemies. then its a 3d 3rd person adventure game, that involves into an rpg, where you try to decuplicate yourself. Then its get an RTS, where you try to conquer things, and, again, survive. And then, its comparable to a "tycoon" game, and after, its the civilization game, and then,....

The thing is that the game evolves with you. You can really get bored of it, as i see it.

I cant wait for this game.

So do I hope my pc can, since that game would be fun to play, if you don´t have to pay a monthly fee.

I saw the video a while back, it does look like a fascinating game, but I have lingering doubts that they'll be able to pull off a game of this scale. Hoping to being proved wrong.

Well, I know that all of the parental groups will be calling for this game to be banned from the start due to the "procedural mating" element...

I'd think the theory of evolution would make them more upset.

One of my uncles asked me about a game I was playing on the GBC at a family reunion. He was interested in what game it was and I said it was Pokemon and I also mentioned in its description that you catch Pokemon to fight other Pokemon and they need to evolve to win. Well, evolution made everyone that heard it worry and start asking me "Do you honestly think man evolved from Monkeys!?"

Yeah, if they knew about my SMT games, they would have a cow.

But what do you do once you reach a galactic level.

It seems like most will wright games, brilliant until you hit the evolutionary
dead end, and then it's just zero growth.

Sort of like domes in sim city, you'd just tweak and tweak until you go them because there was nothing left to do.

Perhaps there could be galactic calamity that requires each player to contribute such and such materials to build a giant space shield, or a giant cannon.

I certainly dont want to build up a giant universe and then have nothing to do.

I just hope the time it takes from being a spore into a giant, dominant, civilization is not too long or too tedious. More info on the game, and whether or not there will be online capabilities will be announced at GDC.

i hope the contrary. I hope its long before you reach the "dead-end", as assembler mentioned. I hope there's lot of gameplay before the RTS and civ-like things.

On another note, I hope there's something at the end, but behing able to visit other's creations seems enough to me. The "galactic calimity" story seems to not fit with the concept behing the game, i think it would just kill it. Not every games are about destruction of the world, Big bad boys and killing things for fun and points people... or at least i hope.

Online mode would be great. Or better when you access The space, you access internet, And each solar systems have a player behind it. The more there's people playing, the more the space is big and habited. That would be great.

Well I didn't imply that I wanted it to be too fast. I just hope they don't make it too tedious to progress thru the game to where you ultimately travel thru space and find the game boring and quit.
