From the makers of the P3GO Jailbreak dongle comes this cute thing: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.54070 Manufacturer website: http://www.gamebox.hk/ CPS1,2 and 3! NeoGeo! Mame! 4 pads! Dual Core 500 MHz! Comes with 60 Arcade games ! 50$! :-0 Even has a GBA slot according to the manual: http://img690.imageshack.us/i/301364079454.jpg If this one is open, that would be sooo awesome! :love2:
Well, it at least has a very close design, but i can´t imagine it being the same box, since the Zeebo comes from Brazil (TecToy) and this Gamebox comes from Hong Kong (manufacturer of P3GO, atleast according to their website). Also the Zeebo has a 528 MHz ARM11, while this box is supposed to have an Ingenics jz4755 dual core at 500 MHz (MIPS, look at the thread called "Manufacturer website" at the dealextreme link). The Dingoo (a chinese handheld to play roms and homebrew) had a jz4740 @ 336 MHz for comparation. I so hope this thing will be open... Edit: There is even a JAMMA board of this: http://www.gamebox.hk/Features.htm (scroll to the bottom) AliBaba search on it here, some more pics and lots of engrish.
According to the spec, this outputs 720p. Can't see anything other than composite on the rear though. And there's no clear shot of the two ports on the right side of the unit. I'm actually quite interested in how well this emulates Neo Geo and CPS2 though.
Couldn´t the small port besides the miniUSB on the side be a HDMI port (pic 1,4,6)? I´m not sure... http://www.dealextreme.com/photogallery.dx/sku.54070~seQ.0 Either way, my CRT does not complain. I bet NeoGeo and CPS2 will be arcade perfect, since those aready run awesomely on the Dingoo, which should be way slower.
Seems cheap chinese devices like these are ever so slowly getting marginally better. The JAMMA board version looks interesting but I see no price or where you would buy one.
This looks really interesting. If it emulates Neo Geo and CPS1,2 and 3 well then I'll be getting one just to mess with. Hopefully someone reviews it soon.
Wow, if it can be hacked to output RGB 240P video, this thing would be a dream! On the other hand, the JAMMA version probably already does that. If it outputs games in their original resolution, then wow! But probably things are being scaled to 480i with software scaling applied...
It'll be a half-arsed job, with emulation implemented to the point that things look passable in screenshots, run at roughly the right speed and don't crash very often. It won't be accurate. EDIT: If that seems negative, I'd love to be wrong about all of the above, but it is a cheap Chinese company making cheap knockoff products, so the odds aren't good.
That Zeebo thing was sold in Mexican supermarkets for like... two months. I never saw it work, but it looked like it really sucked ass. Let's see if they have some on clearance in a couple of months. I haven't seen one there lately, though.
I've been all over the net looking for a review of this thing today. Seems a few people have ordered one. I'll definitely keep an eye on this.
The Jamma board has a header strip looking at the image. http://www.gamebox.hk/images/20101111.GIF I would not be supprised if the same boad is in the console. I think I will have to order one and confirm if this is so.
Hopefully anybody on the internetz who has bought one of these should receive them this week. I'm desperate to see a review, I can't afford to shell out $50 on a risk especially seeing as it will be coming overseas.
I have spoken to Gamebox and the Jamma board is not in production yet nor do they have a price Here is what they said. "Is not mass-production now. So the price is not sure. You are informed once it is producted in a large number."
DX posted this on facebook a few days ago, i was tempted...but i can't justify another unit for what it does. :/
Given the language in the manual, this smells like a crummy Chinese MP4 player built into a box. I bet all the games it supports are going to run with crummy compatibility and quality. AFAIK, the SD slot is for loading movies.
